Histori

The Bol d'Or, first hosted by Eugene Mauve, is a race for motorcycles, and the car is limited to 1100cc engine capacity (in the 1950s the limit was raised to 1500cc, and then to 2000cc). Currently, the Bol d'Or is exclusively a race for motorcycles, although there are a number of side "attractions", such as races for amateur riders and classic bikes.

Before 1953 only one rider per machine was allowed. The record-holder with seven wins, French Gustave LefÃÆ'¨vre, wins with an average speed of 107 kilometers/h on his Norton Manx ride for 24 hours. From 1954 to 1977 the team consisted of two racers, and then, for the sake of safety, it was upgraded to three.

Until 1970 the race was held in various circuits, especially Linas-MontlhÃÆ' Â © ry and Saint-Germain-en-Laye. From 1971 to 1977 the Bol d'Or was held at the permanent circuit of Le Mans Bugatti, which did not belong to the temporary circuit, exit before Tertre Rouge esses and rejoin the Ford Chicane, excluding parts of Tertre Rouge, Mulsanne and Porsche Curves. For the next 22 years, the show took place at Paul Ricard, then moved to Magny-Cours. When the race left Le Mans, 24 Heures du Mans was established, so when the Bol d'Or returned to Le Mans, there was time for a biennial 24-hour motorbike endurance event every day on the Bugatti circuit. Until 2015, the Bol d'Or was held in the spring, while the 24 Heures du Mans was in the slot of early September previously used by Bol d'Or. In 2016 things change again: "24 Heures du Mans" moved to spring, while Bol d'Or moved to Paul Ricard Circuit In September.

The 24-hour motorcycle endurance race has a strong Francophone base, with three major events being held in France (Le Mans & Magny-Cours) and French-speaking Belgium (Spa-Francorchamps), and France's most successful team and rider. In 1970, 1971 and 1992, all the British racing team won the race. Briton Terry Rymer has had consistent results. In the 1970s competitors include Phil Read and Neil Tuxworth, who later led Honda Racing UK. Sometimes, Mead & amp; The Tomkinson racing team fielded "Nessie", a revolutionary bike with a hub-center steering wheel.
