Histori

Produced from 1987 to 1996 in the United States until the end of 1999 in other parts of the world, the Storm experienced only three major revisions. In 1989, this motorcycle received a cosmetic makeover with a complete redesign of the front fairing, an improvement on the front suspension of the bike, larger tires were added to help overcome heavy motor loads and to accommodate radial tires, improvements were also added to the motorcycle. tensioner cam chains in an attempt to remove cam racing chains rattle some riders reported. The 1989 model also has slightly increased power, and it gets heavier.

In 1992, the appearance of the motor was overhauled with a sleeker and more modern bodywork added. The biggest change was the introduction of DCBS, Honda's double braking system. The DCBS system was introduced to assist the rider's braking in which the front brake lever operates the front caliper but also proportionally applies the rear brake, while using the rear brake will use one front caliper. Since then the DCBS has evolved into a very popular addition to many Honda touring motorcycles. No major changes were made after 1992. The tour model was launched in short which offered a bigger screen and loud pannier.

CBR is weighed by the World Cycle at 259 kg (572 Â £ lb) empty tank and 276 kg (609 lb) wet for the California model. Honda claims dry weight of 249 kg (549 lb), and 273 kg (602 pounds) wet. The seat is 780 mm (31 inches) and the wheelbase is 1.505 mm (59.3 inches). This machine is placed on the perimeter frame of the steel box section, aided by 41 mm telescopic front fork and adjustable monoshock on the back. The front brake is a 296 mm double disc using three Nissin piston calipers on the next model (two piston calipers 1987-88), the back is a single 256 mm disc, and DCBS is used on all models after 1992.

The name 'Hurricane' was officially crossed out of the line in 1989; However, the bike was never named a replacement so often still called the original title.

From 1992, Honda introduced the series Supersport with Tadao Baba developing the Fireblade, which took sales from CBR1000F.
