The Nissan Elgrand (Japan: ?????????????> Nissan Erugurando ) is the largest full-size luxury MPV produced by Nissan Shatai for Nissan since 1997, available in three development models, E50, E51 and on 2010 E52. Elgrand is usually used by celebrities in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, and several other countries around the world. In Japan, the cost of ownership is expensive because the exterior dimension has exceeded the Japanese Government's dimension regulations and engine displacement raises higher annual road tax liabilities. Elgrand's main competitors are Toyota Alphard/Toyota Vellfire, and Honda Odyssey, and sold as a bigger and more luxurious alternative to Nissan Lafesta.

Generasi pertama (E50; 1997-2002)

The first generation Nissan Elgrand was produced from May 1997 to May 2002. Various combinations of engines are available including VG33E petrol, VQ35DE and QD32ETi diesel and ZD30DDTi. The E50 has a 4-speed automatic transmission and comes with a 2- or 4-wheel drive. The Caravan Elgrand is exclusive to the Nissan Bluebird Store , while Homy Elgrand is exclusive to Nissan Prince Store Japanese dealers. The caravan remains a vehicle of Nissan's commercial load, while Elgrand assumes passengers are carrying the task with increasing luxury. Top-level equipment packages are fitted with an internet satellite navigation called CarWings.

From 1997 to 2002 the E50 Elgrand was sold by Isuzu as Isuzu Filly for the Japanese market exclusively.

The E50 Eltim used is generally exported to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Russia, the UK, and earlier Philippines before the ban on import of right-handed vehicles. The Australian and New Zealand Clean Cruise Fleets include the E50 Elgrands.

The second generation E51 Elgrand was launched in May 2002 and mainly competed with Toyota Alphard and Honda Elysion.

Initial release

The model specifications are V V, X XL, with subsequent releases including Highway Star and Rider versions - the bottom specification model is V, while the top specification vehicle is XL, with full leather interior.

The Rider has two variations including the Autech Tuned Nismo version.

XL E51 is a top-end model in the Elgrand range.

Innovation

Options for E51 include some great innovations, first there is CARWINGS technology, which includes GPS tracking/location system. But in addition to this is the innovation of reversing the camera by changing the guide lines, track control and assisted braking. This is an additional feature in 2002 for the upscale Nissan vehicles. In 2008 there was further innovation in the form of a 4 camera display technology that gave the air rotation look when backing off. Other innovations include: voice-activated controls, BOSE Audio or 5.1 channel surround sound audio system, voice-activated voice dialing and satellite-controlled clocks.

Note - it is not possible to reset the internal clock in the E51 with the monitor because it has a permanent satellite connection to a geostationary satellite which only gives Japanese timing signals. The clock accuracy is amazing, but regardless of where you are in the world, it will always be true for local Japanese time.

Windshield: There are several available windshield options, ranging from standard compatibility, to water repellents, laser engraved, colored screens. The waterproof screen has a holographic sticker to identify this additional option.

Nissan Elgrand, Autech Elgrand Enchante (2002 -)

The JDM model went on sale in 2002-05-21. Nissan Elgrand's early models include XL, X, VG (4/5-door), V, and Highway Star. Elgrand Enchant's early models included VG, V, and Highway Star. All model ranges can be configured with a removable second row seat or Step Type.

ELgrand XL

This is the top of the range model, with many additional options installed as standard. It comes with a leather 7-seater interior, 8 speaker sound system, which includes Sony MiniDISC, keyless entries, carwings, reversing cameras, two TV screens, wing fold mirrors and heated driver and passenger seats.

From the full reach of Elgrand, this is also the heaviest coming in at 2.2 Ton. The rider version became the lightest version because it was originally regarded as a sports model, so many additional features were removed because it reduced the weight/power ratio for vehicles.

Elgrand Rider (2002 -)

The Rider is a version of the 5-door Elgrand VG with front bumper, billet grille, front fog lamp, side side shield, rear bottom shield, top rear combination lamp (clear type), rear winker finisher, clear side lamp turn, front cutting grade class (with top shade), floor chair (in leather), floor trim door, 3 seating armrest, leather wrapped texture 4-spoke steering wheel, leather wrapped texture rock shift knob instrument, finisher texture rock, loudspeaker system (MD/CD integrated AM/FM electronic radio tuner, 6 speakers and superwoofer), 17 inch aluminum wheels, 215/60R17 tires, large diameter sport muffler by Fujitsubo, low suspension, and 3 color options body; white pearl (3-coat pearl # QX1), diamond silver metallic (# KY0), black (# KH3; Rider), and interior color of ecru (S).

The Japanese model went on sale on 2002-10-02.

VG version L, Highway Star version L (2002-2003)

The VG L and Highway Star versions of L are Nissan Elgrand VG and Highway Star respectively, commemorating the sale of 250000 units of Nissan Elgrand in Japan since May 1997. Changes include DVD TV Carwings/navigation system, 2 Smart Keys (driver side), side passenger, rear door sensor), rear-view camera with wide car and display distance (color), super sound system Elgrand and 6 speakers (MD/CD integrated AM/FM electronic radio tuner, 160W, MD/CD auto changer connection), control steering wheel for audio, voice commands, and hands-free phones, a choice of 3 body colors: metallic silver titan champagne, white pearl (3 pearl layers), black/metallic silver luster in VG version L; white pearl (3-coat pearl), metal metallic sword, silver metal diamond on L's version of Highway Star.

The JDM model went on sale between 2002-12-24 and 2013-03-31.

Updates Elgrand Highway Star, Elgrand Enchante front row passenger Seat Type Lift ( 2003 -)

Changes to the Elgrand Highway Star include a fully layered front grille, chrome-colored aluminum street lining, fog lamps surrounding body color, black steering wheel, cross-sectional strips of Jacquard black material flooring, black leather button shift section, instrument panel control panel center cluster in dark gray. New options include driver driver's automatic sliding door for smart lock model, leather or Supplare (from Elgrand X) - plated seat.

Elgrand Enchant

Elgrand Enchant took the 8-passenger version of Elgrand V, VG, Highway Star, and X, and added a mobility access seat in the second row.

E51 Specification

E51 Elgrand uses a 2.5l or 3.5l V6 VQ-series engine that is combined with a five-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic shift for better response. Additional transmission controls include Power and Snow settings, as well as 4x4 power options. It uses multilink rear suspension with ventilated disc brakes all around it.

Design and features of E51

E51 Elgrand is very different from its predecessor, now equipped with power sliding doors, rotary signal repeater built into side mirror, rear roof spoiler, and 16- (XL) or 17-inch (HWS) aluminum alloy wheels. The new fascia front, with chrome grille, gives Elgrand a more sporty look.

The interior features include a captain-style chair, an eight-speaker sound system with an optional nine speaker system by Bose Corp, and a TV/DVD player with a nine inch (229mm) screen. Elgrand also comes with an eight inch (203mm) LCD monitor on the dashboard for Carwings Vehicle Information System (also known as VIS). Optional extras include heated front seats, electric curtains and better interior trim levels, such as woodgrain trim panels and woodgrain steering. The interior seating arrangement can be configured to eat by adjusting the captain-style rear-facing seat, and folding the second row from a flat seat onto a cushion.

Like most new models manufactured by Nissan, Elgrand comes with a "No Key" feature to increase user comfort. Elgran higher specifications such as Highway Star, Rider, X, and XL versions are equipped with an internal GPS system dedicated to use in Japan. Optional GPS system for Hong Kong and Guangdong Province in China is available.

NOTE - GPS systems are NOT satellite-based systems, but DISC-operated CarWings systems, which play hidden DVD players, by tracking vehicle positions through wheel sensors, against the start and end of positions inserted from a trip with remarkable accuracy. CD Discs where only made for Japan and direct export countries.

Third generation (E52; 2010-present)

Initial release

Third generation E52 Elgrand share platform with fourth generation North American R42H Nissan Quest.

The first revision of Elgrand E52 was released in Japan in August 2010. It was produced from August 2010 to January 2014. In this period there are 6 trim levels available. All models are available in front wheel drive or all-wheel drive configuration with continuous variable transmission being the only transmission option. 250 prefixes for trim levels represent the 2.5 liter inline-4 engine (QR25DE) while the 350 prefix to the trim level represents the 3.5 liter V6 engine (VQ35DE). Some models are available in both machine options while others are only available with one.

In Japan, Elgrand is one level below Nissan's largest vans, called Nissan Caravan which has been produced since the 1960s.

The E52 goes on sale in Hong Kong in 2010-10-20 as a model vehicle of 2011. Early models include the Elgrand 350 Highway Star Premium. Elgrand Highway Star AVM and Elgrand Highway Star Dynamic with VQ35DE engines go on sale in 2012-02-15. ELGRAND 250 added on 2013-01-17.

Autech Elgrand Rider High Performance Spec (2011 -)

The Autech High Performance Spec is a version of the Rider 350 Highway Star (FWD) with an increase in 20 PS (15 kW, 20 hp) and 1.7 kg (17 m) of torque, 17 lbf of torque? Ft), improved handling (front cross stay, crossbar, rear rear crossbar, YAMAHA performance damper (rear)), adjustable suspension, 19 inch shiny aluminum wheels (dark tones), Michelin Primacy LC 245/45R19 98Y tires), and 'HIGH PERFORMANCE Emblem SPEC.

High Performance Specs went on sale in November 2011.

Elgrand 2011 update, Nissan Elgrand Urban Chrome (2011 -)

• The AFS standard is active on 250 models

Urban Chrome is a version of the 250 Highway Star and 350 Highway Star with dark chrome grille, dark fog lamp chrome finisher, front shield, 18 inch graphite-finish aluminum wheels, crystal clear rear combination lamps, LED (clear type) rope lights, and power sliding doors on 250 Highway Star (standard on the usual Highway Star 350 version).

The Autech Elgrand Rider is a 350 Highway Star (FWD/AWD) and 250 XG (FWD/AWD) versions with front bumper, front grille, front lamp finisher, rear bumper, emblem (Rider/AUTECH), 18-inch aluminum glossy wheels, lowered suspension, sport exhaust, seat seats (black leather, black fabric for 2.5-liter engine models), front and rear door trim, finisher in mokume-gane pattern, and 3 body color options (brilliant white pearl 3-coat pearl (#QAB), phantom black pearl (#GAE), brilliant silver metallic (# K23)). The Autech option includes a large roof spoiler and exclusive seats on premium white leather (only 3.5 liter engine models). Autech dealer options include exclusive front cover and exclusive front protector stickers.

Facelift was unveiled at the 43rd Tokyo Motor Show (2013), followed by Tokyo Auto Salon 2014 (Rider High Performance Spec Black Line).

The JDM model from Elgrand facelifted goes on sale in 2014-01-15. Nissan Elgrand's early models include 250 XG (8 passengers), 250 Highway Star (7/8 passengers), 250 Highway Star Premium (8 passengers), 350 Highway Star (7/8 passengers), and 350 Highway Star Premium (7 passengers).

World market

There is a strong gray import market emerging for Elgrands in Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and earlier Philippines. Growth in these markets is mainly driven by car enthusiasts, or unmet needs for seven or eight passenger vehicles in that market. In the Philippines, the first generation model was converted into a left-hand drive and sold before the JDM vehicle ban.

In Hong Kong, E51 is imported in limited quantities, while the E52 is currently imported in bulk. Both generations are officially sold by Nissan dealers. All E50 Elgrands in Hong Kong are gray imports.

In the UK, most of the Elgrands are imported for resale through a special Japanese agent or import agency. There is also a growing market in Elgrands that imports itself either by buying directly through Japanese car auctions or online dealers. Currently in the UK it is estimated that 600-700 Elgrands have been imported, most of which were the previous E50 (1997-2001), possibly only about 250 E51 (2002-2009) and 1 new E52 (2010-) model.

In Australia, Elgrands is a popular import and imported from Japanese import agents and special dealers. It is estimated that Australia has only about 400-500 Nissan Elgrands which are mostly old models (E50 1997-2001) and E51 (2004-2009). The E52 model (2010-present) is rare and will only be sold mostly by Japanese car importers.

In Indonesia, the third generation Elgrand was launched in early 2011. Elgrand for the market was equipped with 3.5L V6 gasoline engine. The 2.5L 4-cylinder model was released in September 2012.
