The sixth-generation Honda Civic was introduced in 1995 with a 3-door hatchback, a 4-door sedan and a 2-door coupe body-styles, replicating its predecessor line-up. The 5-door hatchback is also manufactured to replace Honda Concerto hatchbacks in Europe but this model, while using the same design language as the rest of the Civic range, is quite different, instead of being a hatchback version of Honda Domani, sharing platform cars related to the fifth Generation EG/EH/EJ) Civic. The Domani replaces the sedan version of Concerto in Japan while the sedan version of Concerto is directly replaced by the sixth generation Civic sedan in other markets. Two carriages are also available; JDM Orthia, based on Civic sedan/3-door hatchback, and 5-door hatchback model/Domani, sold as Civic Aerodeck, in Europe. Not offered in North America. The Civic 5-door hatchback also forms the basis for the 1995 Rover 400 though the 4-door version of the Rover sedan was quite different from Domani.
In his introduction in 1995, he won the Car of the Year Japan Award for the third time.

Trim EX has a standard slave cassette player. Dealers also offer AM/FM and AM/FM CD deck tapes to replace the stock radio. All vehicles are equipped with four speakers (except for EX which includes two additional tweeters located at the front door), radio cables (preparation), and antennas regardless of whether they have radio or not.
Si
After a brief hiatus, the Civic Si reappeared in 1999, only available as a coupà ©. With the adoption of the VTi badge in Europe and the SiR and Type R badges in Japan for the Civic sports variant, Si became particularly a US special badge, a branding trend that will continue in the next generation of Civic. Accelerating from 0-60 in 7.1 seconds, the Civic Si 1999 package incorporates a 1.6 liter B16A2 engine that keeps 160 hp (119 kW) at 8,000 rpm and 111Ã, ft-lbs of torque at 7,000 rpm. While similar to the powerplant in Del Sol VTEC, the Civic Si sees several important differences, including larger throttle bodies, better intake manifolds, reinforced connecting rods, low-friction/high-silicon pistons, fully restrained crankshaft, and a large-diameter pipeline disposal system. Due to the good fuel economy (27/31 city/hwy MPG), and the more popular coupe form, the trim package garnered a dedicated followers regardless of its short production cycle.
Changes from standard Civics include more rigid and progressive springs, rigid rear and rear anti-roll bars, and tower supports, which contribute to cornering cornering trips. It is available with a five-speed manual transmission only, standard equipment also includes disc brakes all around. The aesthetic exterior changes from the LX/EX trim are minimal, with the Si slim package featuring a 15 inch lower and wider package of tires/wheels, a smooth spoiler, painted side lattice, and a Si curve. There is a power key, power window, CD player, cruise control, air conditioning, power sunroof, and tilt steering. For the interior, the sixth Si generation also has slope adjustments for bottom pads, leather-wrapped steering, long-distance keyless entries, and red-faced instrumentation with Si branding.

Facelift
In 1998 for the 1999 model year, the Civic has several updates for interior and exterior. This redesign can vary according to the country of origin for the car. For example, in some European countries there is no redesign for the climate control area or behind the sedan model.
The updated cars receive a facelift that includes a new grille, new headlamps, and a new front bumper, redesigned fenders and hoods and taillights. Model coupe and sedan also got a bit of redesign to the bottom of the rear bumper. In the pre-facelift sedan, the stop light is above the traffic light and turns on; for the facelift version, the reverse and turn lights are above the stop light. For coupe and hatchback layout remains as before; however, the reverse turn signal lens becomes clear/white instead of yellow to match the backlight (the light turns to amber).
Inside, the center console has changes. The air system control is replaced by a rotating one, which frees up space to accommodate an enlarged radio, which includes a cassette player or a Compact Disc player. Previously, the large size of the ventilation control reduced the radio size, requiring the slave cassette player or the Compact Disc player at the bottom of the console.
Machine
US Domestic Market (USDM)
The CX, DX, VP, and LX trim packages use the 16v D16Y7 SOHC engine. It produces 106 hp (79 kW) at 6,200 RPM, 103 lb? Ft (140Ã, N? M) torque at 4,600 RPM, with a compression ratio of 9.6: 1. The fuel injection is multi-point.
Trim HX has a SOHC 16v D16Y5 lean-burn machine with VTEC-E. It produces 115 hp (86 kW) at 6,300 RPM, 104 lb? Ft (141Ã, N? M) torque at 5,400 RPM, with a compression ratio of 9.4: 1. The fuel injection is multi-point.
Trim EX (Canadian Si trim) has a 16v D16Y8 SOHC engine with VTEC. It produces 127 hp (95 kW) at 6,600 RPM, 107Ã, lb? Ft (145Ã, N? M) torque at 5,500 RPM, with a compression ratio of 9.6: 1. The fuel injection is multi-point.
The Si trim (Canadian SiR trim) uses DOHC 16v B16A2 engine with VTEC. It produces 160A hp (119Ã, kW) at 7,600 RPM, 111A lb ft (150A Nm?) Of torque at 7,000 RPM, with a compression ratio of 10.2: 1. The fuel injection is multi-point.
GX trim has a D16B5 machine designed to run on compressed natural gas. It has a compression ratio of 12.5: 1.
Other Markets
In Japan, the cheapest trim package is the EL (as well as the short-lived EL-II trim), powered by D13B engine 1.343Ã, cc with 91Ã,ç (67kW) at 6,300 RPM. As for most of the sixth generation PKV, it is a 16v SOHC design.
In the UK, Europe, South Africa and the Philippines, there are a number of sedans and Aerodek between 1996 and 2000 produced with motor B16A1, B16A2, B18B and even B18C.
In Japan, the Civic Ferio Si uses second generation B16A engines while other trims use D15B, D16A or D13B engines.
In the Middle East market, the Civic comes with a D15Z4 105Ã, hp (78Ã,kW) engine for LXi and EXi trims.
in Australia, most trims come with a D16Y4 engine; VTI trim sedan has D16Y5 , VTI coupe the D16Y8 and VTI-R Hatchback and Coupe has B16A machine.
Transmission
Most trim packages (DX, LX, EX, Si) are available with a standard 5-speed manual transmission with hydraulic coupling, or an optional 4-speed automatic transmission. Various sets of gears and final drives are used between the trim and the year model, generated here are 4 different combinations of manual transmission:
CX/DX hatchback, HX Coupe: Gearing tinggi dengan final drive 3.722
DX/LX coupe/sedan: The same transmission gear as the CX/DX hatchback and HX coupe but with a final drive of 4.058
EX hatchback/coupe/sedan: Gear is shorter than all variants except Si with final drive 4.25
Si Coupe: The shortest gearing of all 6th generation Honda Civics, 4,266 final drives, available in manual transmission only.
Trim HX is offered with a 5-speed manual or Continuously Variable Transmission CVT which offers three driving ranges, D (standard transmission ratio for normal driving), S (secondary ratio for driving excitement with higher-speed engines ), and L (the lowest ratio to provide maximum engine braking and peak power). Automatic 4-speed conventional is not available on trim HX. The JDM variant called the Civic RTi is also produced and features both manual and automatic transmissions that are incorporated into the Honda all-wheel-drive layout in real-time.
For DX/LX/EX Civics equipped with automatic transmission, the only difference between DX/LX vs EX is that EX has slightly shorter gearing in 1st to 3rd gear but instead shares the same 0.638 gear ratio fourth and 4,357 final drive comparison.
Weight
All the weights listed in this table are lbs.
Worldwide
The Civic JDM sedan (known as Civic Ferio Si) features PSH VTF B16A 170 PS (125 kW), rear headrest, Shiftra Type-R style knob, unique seatbelts and the same 15 "alloy wheels. the 1999-2000 US Civic Si CoupÃÆ'à © market. Other JDM Ferio models include the model with 4wheel RealTime drives and back racks in the rear window sedan, which are not seen in other markets.
Canada
Canadian trim packages are mostly similar to the United States, albeit with different titles. Canadian Civic sedans come in LX, EX and SE, which roughly correspond to American DX and LX; no Canadian Honda brand is equivalent to an American EX sedan - only the Acura EL Canada market that fills this place. Canadian Civic coupes come in DX, Si, and SiR, equivalent to DX, EX, and Si in the United States. Only the EX sedan, Si coupe and SiR coupe that has power lock and power windows, Si and SiR coupe is the only Italian Civic that is trimmed with power moonroof. All sedans and coupes have optional group package options that add air conditioning and anti-lock brakes. The hatchback, only available on CX and DX trim, is sold as an economy car; like in the US, they do not have other trim facilities in the Civic range, nor as an option. All sedans, coupes, and DX hatchbacks have two front air pockets; while the CX hatchback has only a driver's airbag.
SiR and Fin Canada include ABS and heated mirrors, which are more in line with the long winter Canadian climate, which is not included in American trims. SiR Canada is also available on New Vogue Silver Metallic, which is not available for American trim.
The Civic DX Special Edition (SE) hatchback is a special trim package that was released for the year 2000 alone. This car is similar to a Canadian DX hatchback, but comes with additional standard parts including 14-inch wheels (similar in design to the more common third-generation Integra mesh wheels), colored side mirrors and side prints, center wings and special badges on the back of the hold.
Australia
The Civic was introduced in 1996 initially with two 1.6 liter engines. VTEC motors are found in VTI, while non-VTEC is standard across the range in GLi and CXi models, with optional 4-speed automatic both in CXi and GLi or CVT in VTi. The high output B16A2 engine was introduced later and is available in coupes and hatches, known as VTi-R.
SiRIi Asia
From 1996 to 2000, Honda produced the Civic SiRII that came with the B16A engine, but only available in the Asian market. This engine is manufactured (160 hp (120 kW) at 7800 rpm with 1595 cc displacement.
Philippines
The sixth generation Civic was originally launched in 1996 with two trim packages: the LXi with the 1.5L SOHC D15Z4 non-VTEC engine, and the VTi with the 1.6L SOHC D16Y5 VTEC-E engine. Both come with regular front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. The choice of transmission is a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic, available on both trims. During the facelift 1999, the SiR version was introduced. It has a VTEC B16a2 1.6L DOHC engine and was originally available in black nighthawk, white tafetta and orange passion variant. The red yellow and sunburst variant variants follow the aftwerwards with a silver accent on the center console. Other important differences are the mesh grill (similar to EK9), steering wheel three red stitching, 15 inch Enkei rims (similar to USDM Si & JDM Vi-RS), sharpknob stitched leather (similar to JDM SiR), upper front strut bar , Kenwood CD player, larger front and rear disc brakes, unique interior fabric colors and chin and optional front spoiler. The only option of transmission is a 5-speed manual.
Japanese
There is also the Civic Type R, sold only in the domestic Japanese market, and is available only as a hatchback and 5-speed manual with LSD as the only transmission available. This model is equipped with B16B (185 PS (136 kW) at 8,200 rpm) (AKA PCT), which is essentially a destructive, but powerful B18C engine version of Integra Type R. The chassis is designated EK9. EK9 is very special because it is basically based on JDM EK4 SiR but is removed from the production line and given additional reinforcement on the chassis and shell. Weight is also removed carefully to create the feel of a light racing car. Other additions above the EK4 are larger brakes, stud stud hubs, faster steering ratio, adjustable special suspension, Recaro seats, Momo steering, titanium knife shifts, front spoiler, rear wing, smoky headlights and built engines hands that embody the spirit of Honda racing. This engine features a polished hand-cylinder head, lighter flywheels, a redesigned cam profile, high compression pistons, and a balanced crankshaft. The gearbox is equipped with a helix-limited slip differential type.
Civic Ferio Vi-RS Japan
Considered as an "extra sporty" version of the Honda Civic Ferio, the Honda Civic Ferio Vi-RS 1.5 liter, the four-door sedan is sold in the domestic Japanese market only. It has a 1.5-liter D15B three-stage VTEC, a five-speed manual transmission or an automated CVT. Civic Vi-RS has a three-way switch mounted on the right side of the wheel marked D, S1, or S2. This setting affects which camera is used, the ECU fuel-air mapping, and the gearbox behavior (automatically). S2 is the most sporty mode.
South Africa
In South Africa, the 3-door hatchback is sold under "Civic" (pre-facelift) and "Civic Coupe" (facelift) nameplates. The 4-door sedan was marketed under the "Ballade" signboard. In South Africa the 2-door Civic coupe (Si) is not available. The chassis code is also different from other markets: SO3 (civic hatchback) and SO4 (Civic sedan/Ballade). The Type R was never released to the South African market. No SOHC VTEC motors are available. The choice of South African model is Civic 150i (D15Z4) Civic 160i (D16Z4) Civic 160i VTEC (B16A6) Civic 180i (B18B). Since Honda in SA is distributed by Mercedes-Benz SA at the time, many models use some Mercedes trim, such as leather trim and alarm systems on the Ballade and Civic Vtec models. The AMG version of Ballade is also released featuring performance disposal systems and AMG body pieces.
< Aerodeck "> Europe - MA/MB/MC five-door Civic/Civic/Civic Aerodeck two-door coupe
Based on Domani, this version is marketed in Europe as MA/MB/MC Civic and Civic Aerodeck. Built in five-door, two-door coupe and Aerodeck (Estate) model in various trim levels and engine sizes. The name Aerodeck was previously used on the Honda Accord Aerodeck, which is a two-door station wagon, which is popular in Europe as a shooting brake. 1.4 L (D14A2/A5/A7), 1.5L (D15Z8/Z6), 1.6L (D16Y2/Y3, D16W2/W3, D16B2 etc.) and 1.8 liter gasoline engine (B18C4) available. It comes with a five-door body and a fifty-five liter fuel tank, ABS, driver and passenger air bag, power steering and electric door mirrors, among other things. The models then come with AC as standard. The 1.8 VTi model is the flagship model (described in detail below) with the largest gasoline engine to be supplied to the MA MB MC Civics. Domani-based Civics is also available with the L-Series Rover diesel engine which is a 2-liter turbocharged unit, eight valves, direct-injection (20T2N, 20T2R); important additions in the European market. Then the diesel engine comes with an intercooler. The chassis code intended for this model and the Civic generation is the chassis code of MA8, MA9, MB1, MB2, MB3, MB4, MB6, MB7, and MB8 for the liftback, while the Aerodeck chassis code is MB9, MC1, MC2, MC3, and MC9. Compared to the original Domani, Liftback and Aerodeck feature new interiors, similar to the more upscale Rover 400. Honda had a long-term partnership with the Rover group, which at the time did not have sufficient funds for tools to produce new cars, allowing Rover to produce its own C-Segment competitors based on Domani's shell design and use many of its supporters to produce Rover 400/45 and then MG ZS. Rover makes the most of cosmetic changes (which include front fenders/wings, bonnet, headlights, bumpers, tailgate and tailgate are different on Rover as well as more upscale cabin materials and greater use of wood and decals) to have a new design in the room showcase, which is very cost-effective but shares opinions among brand enthusiasts.
1.8/1.6 VTi
Like all Honda models of the era, the VTi symbolized the entry of Honda's VTEC technology. There is a VTi rear badge, and "DOHC VTEC" decals on the back door, as well as front/rear bumpers and side skirts (in VTI-S models). 1996 saw the introduction of the VTi model and then the VTI-S limited edition. The VTI comes in two different flavors - DOHC 1.6 VTi hatch and sedan (B16A2 engine) and DOHC 1.8 VTi five-door (with larger B18C4). The 1.6 VTi car is actually slightly faster in acceleration than the 1.8 due to different gear ratios. 1.6 is also a lighter engine in lighter cars, helping to reduce acceleration time 0-60 mph about 0.3 seconds. Front/rear disc brakes are standard on all versions of VTi/VTi-S. The five-door version (VTi/VTi-S) includes a limited Torsen slip differential which means they are faster out of the corner than the 1.6 (three doors) as they are able to accelerate out of the corners more effectively.
The 1.8 VTi Civic comes with a number of standard equipment, some of which are not available on three door (1.6) equivalents. The standard specification 1.8 includes:
Exterior: Front lip/spoiler, Rear boot spoiler with integral brake light, Headlight washer, electric sunroof, color-coded mirror, color coded door handle, rear-colored front bumper, front fog lamp, Speedline 5 light spoke alloy wheels.
Interior: Seat of semi-unique sport leather (optional full leather), front/rear electric window, electrically operated/heated door mirror, air conditioner, dimmer dash instrument lamp, front and rear headrests. Leather steering wheel with red stitching.
UK Limited Edition
- VTi-S
The five-door MB6 VTi-S is made within a limited period of 500 of every body type, and is only sold in Honda 'Pirates Black' colors, with body-colored bumper. The VTI-S increases on a standard five-door VTi display with a more prominent front lip and also a rear lip on the bumper, and a distinct side skirt. The VTi-S specification also includes chrome/aluminum gear-knob (silver/black plastic on later VTiS models), VTI-S floor-mats and tailgate badging. It is also equipped with a lightweight Chrono 15 "speedline rims, with split split design. Then the VTi-S model is equipped with alloy wheels" Speedline "lightweight alloy wheels. In addition, this is identical to the regular VTi.Calling instruments on the VTi-S model then changed slightly, now with oblique numbering.
The three-door EK4 VTi-S was produced in 1998 alone and 200 were produced today, all on the 'R' registration plate. Like the MB6 VTi-S, the VTi-S EK4 is based on the standard VTi hatchi, with distinctions as Starlight Black paint, front and rear bumper lips/skirts, mid-spoiler rear, 15 "speedline chrono rims, cluster dashboard using white numbering on speedometer, fuel gauges etc, rather than orange/red like on a regular VTi, but still retain the red needle The boot badge says the 'Honda' 'Civic' '1.6VTi' and 'VTEC' All are replaced with a single VTi-S badge, and there are wheel knobs alloys and floor mats VTi-S mechanically and in terms of performance it is identical to the regular VT4 EK4.Because the problem with many native VTi-S 'registration process is not in log books as VTi-S, but VTi, and VTi The Civic is commonly recorded as VTi-S, this issue also affecting the special edition of EK4 Civic Jordan, some of which are also recorded as VTi-S.
- Civic Jordan
To commemorate the Honda (Mugen) Jordan F1 team. A 500 limited edition special car Honda Civic VTi (EK4 3-door model) was created with their own signed Eddie Jordan Plak with a certain amount listed on it on the center console. This car was sold in 1999-2000. It's the same basic specs as the EK4 VTi, but the extras include: Sunray yellow paint work, yellow and black leather interior, Jordan decals on the sides and rear of the car as well as stitched onto carpet seats and floor.
Rover 200, 400, 25, 45 and MG ZR , ZS
