Keisuke Honda ( ?? , Honda Keisuke , was born on 13 June 1986 in Settsu, Osaka) is a Japanese professional footballer who plays for CF CF club Pachuca and the Japanese national team. A versatile player, he usually plays as an attacking midfielder, but he can play as a winger or as a deep playmaker, and often appear as a right winger for Milan during the 2014-15 Serie A season. A fast, creative, powerful and energetic player, he is also known for his accuracy of free kicks, powerful long range attacking skills, dribbling skills, and delivery as a dead ball specialist.

He has received more than 90 international matches since 2008, playing in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, 2014 and 2018, and winning the 2011 AFC Asian Cup, where he was also selected as a Tournament Player.

Born and raised in Osaka, Honda is a member of the local junior junior team at Gamba Osaka, but was not promoted to the junior team. After graduating Seiry? High School, Honda started his professional career in 2004, with J1 League club Nagoya Grampus.

VVV-Venlo

On January 16, 2008, Honda signed a two and a half year contract with the Eredivisie VVV-Venlo. In his first six months at VVV, he experienced first-time degradation in his professional career when his new team took to the Eerste Divisie, the second division. In the 2008-09 season, he scored 16 goals in 36 league appearances to help the team return to the Eredivisie. He is known as Keizer Keisuke (which means Emperor Keisuke ) amongst club fans. Also, Honda introduced his agent, Tetsuro Kiyooka to Maya Yoshida in 2008 and took it to VVV-Venlo two years later.

CSKA Moscow

At the end of December 2009, Honda transferred to the Russian club CSKA Moscow. Honda signed a 4-year contract. Transfer fees are not disclosed, but VVV-Venlo is said to be very satisfied with the cost because it is almost in line with the asking price; believed to be in the region of EUR6 million. Honda made its debut for CSKA in UEFA Champions League match against Sevilla. In the second leg at Sevilla, he scored the winning goal with a direct free kick for CSKA after setting up the first goal for TomÃÆ'¡? Necid. This ensured a 2-1 (3-2 aggregate) win to send the club into the quarterfinals, making Honda the first Japanese player in the quarterfinals as well as the first to score in the knock-out round. Honda scored his first league goal on March 12, 2010, in a home game against Amkar Perm. He scored in the third minute of injury time, scoring from Necid with his left kick. With that goal, he secured victory for CSKA Moscow.

Honda took the first part of silver with CSKA on 22 May 2011, coming on as a second half substitute for Alan Dzagoev in a 2-1 defeat of Alania Vladikavkaz in the Russian Cup final. He scored twice in the first half of CSKA's game against Krylia Sovetov three days later, a match that ended in a 3-0 win for his team. On September 16, 2012, Honda scored twice from operands from Ahmed Musa, scoring the only goal in a league victory over Alania.

On July 13, 2013, Honda scored CSKA's first and third goals in a club's 3-0 victory over Zenit in a Russian Super Cup tie at Rostov. In the summer transfer window of 2013, he entered the final six months of his contract with CSKA and became free to talk to other clubs, expressed interest in moving to a bigger club. On December 11, 2013, CSKA announced the conclusion of Honda's time at the club.

Milan

On 27 October 2013, Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri announced a deal for Honda to join Milan with a free transfer in January 2014. Honda officially joined the team on 4 January 2014 with a contract lasting until June 2017 and wearing jersey number 10.

On January 12, 2014, Honda made its debut as a substitute for Robinho in a 4-3 Serie A defeat of Sassuolo. On January 15th, Honda made its full debut for Milan, scoring in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals 3-1 win against Spezia. He scored his first Serie A goal in Genoa-Milan, which was won by the Rossoneri 1-2. Honda's contribution to Milan in the second half of the 2013-14 season is considered disappointing, and he himself stated that "this is not me".

On 31 August 2014, Honda scored for Milan against Lazio, scoring the club's first goal of the season as the Rossoneri won 3-1 in Serie A debut Filippo Inzaghi as manager. Honda went on to score Milan's second goal against Parma on 14 September, helping Milan to win nine goals, 5-4. Honda provided assists for the opening goal of Giacomo Bonaventura and scored a header goal to restore Milan's lead, from Ignazio Abate's cross. In Milan's next game against Empoli, Honda drilled a shot on the edge of the box that equalized for Milan when both teams drew 2-2. Honda scored with a free kick just above Chievo's wall in a 2-0 win on 4 October. Honda scored the first goal for Milan in a 3-1 away win against Verona on 19 October. On 21 May 2017 Honda scored a goal against Bologna to win the match and thus gave Milan qualification to the Europa League for the first time since the 2013/14 season from a free kick.

Pachuca

On July 14, 2017, Mexican club Pachuca announced the signing of Honda. On August 23, 2017, Honda scored on its debut in a 4-1 win over Veracruz.

International career

Senior career

He is a member of the Japanese team for the 2005 FIFA Youth World Championships and plays for the U-23 national team, who qualified for the finals of the 2008 Summer Olympics soccer tournament. He made his full international debut for Japan on June 22, 2008 in FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Bahrain. On July 14, 2008, he was officially named as one of the midfielders of Japan's U-23 national soccer team for the Beijing Olympic soccer competition. He scored his first senior national team goal on May 27, 2009 in a friendly against Chile at the Nagai Stadium in Osaka and has since been nicknamed "Emperor Keisuke". FIFA World Cup 2010

Honda scored the only goal in Japan's 2010 FIFA World Cup match against Cameroon, ending a Daisuke Matsui cross into the top-left corner of the net. His in-game appearance earned him the Man of the Match Award from FIFA and the 1-0 victory was Japan's first World Cup victory on foreign soil. In the final group stage match against Denmark, he scored a superb free kick in the 17th minute from 30 yards. He then changed providers to Shinji Okazaki after making his way into the penalty area, with Cruyff Turn defeating the Danes in the 88th minute to score 3-1 to Japan, a performance that earned him the "Man of the Match" award again and escaped Japan for the knockout rounds. In the last 16 matches, Japan were eliminated by Paraguay, falling 3-5 on penalties after the game ended goalless through extra-time.

Asian AFC 2011 Cup

Honda is included in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup by coach Alberto Zaccheroni. In the match against Syria, he scored a penalty kick that made the score 2-1 for Japan. In the semi-final against South Korea, he made a penalty kick, but was blocked by Jung Sung-Ryong. However, in a penalty shootout out of the game, he scored a goal and was named "Man of the Match." Honda was awarded the most valuable player of the 2011 AFC Asian Cup as Japan lifted the record for the fourth continent.

2014 FIFA World Cup Qualification

Honda lost the majority of the third round of AFC World Cup qualifiers due to injuries he gained while playing for his club.

During the fourth qualifying round, on 3 June 2012, in Japan's first game in Group B against Oman, Honda scored a beautiful goal just eleven minutes into the match. The match ended in a 3-0 win for Japan. He went on to score goals against Jordan on June 8, 2012, managing to score a hat-trick; Japan went on to win 6-0. He also played an important role during the 1-1 draw with Australia on 12 June 2012, during a corner kick, he helped a goal scored by Yuzo Kurihara.

He missed several friendly matches and one qualifying game due to injury from the club's duties and then was not included in the 2-1 shock squad by Jordan on March 26, 2013. Although not 100 percent fit, Honda entered the squad. for the game against Australia on June 4, 2013, having just won the Russian Cup with his club. All the Japan needed from this match is a draw to secure their place for Brazil. He managed to score a goal through a penalty kick during extra time from a handball from Matt McKay, making the score 1-1. The result guaranteed Japan's qualification for the World Cup in Brazil and became the first country to book their place in the tournament.

After winning the 2011 AFC Asian Cup, Japan qualified for the Confederations Cup in Brazil in 2013 and Honda once again included in Zaccheroni's squad for the tournament. After losing 3-0 to host Brazil in their first group match on 15 June 2013, Japan face Italy in the next game; Honda scored from the penalty spot to put Japan ahead but they fell 4-3 in a pulsating match that threw Asian champions out of the competition.

2014 FIFA World Cup

Japan are drawn to Group C at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil to face Colombia, Greece and Ivory Coast. In Japan's opening game against Ivory Coast, Honda collected a pass from Yuto Nagatomo after a quick throw and scored with a left-foot shot in the 16th minute of the match. With this goal, Honda became the first Japanese player to score in two World Cups, and also claimed to be the only Japanese top scorer in FIFA World Cup history with three goals total. Japan then lost 2-1 to African teams.

Asia AFC 2015 Cup

Honda is included in Javier Aguirre's 23-man squad for the 2015 Asian Cup. Honda started its opening match against the Palestinians and scored a penalty in their 4-0 win. In the next game against Iraq, Honda again scored a penalty in which Japan won the game 1-0 and the first goal in a 2-0 victory over Jordan.

Honda participated in Japan's quarter-final match against the United Arab Emirates. After the game ended 1-1 after extra time Honda, who became Japan's first kick in on penalties, missed his shot, firing over the crossbar, as Japan eventually lost 5-4 on penalties.

2018 FIFA World Cup

On June 24, 2018, Honda scored against Senegal in the second round of Group H matches. With this goal he became the first Asian player to score against the country on every continent, as well as top scoring. Asian players in World Cup history and the only player to register goals and assists in each of the last three tournaments.

Personal life

Coming from a sports family, Keisuke Honda's brother is also a soccer player. Honda's great uncle, Daisaburo, was a canoe representing Japan at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Keisuke Honda's cousin was Tamon Honda, a professional wrestler and former Olympic wrestler, who participated in three Olympic Games in freestyle wrestling in 1984, 1988, and 1992. married Misako, a kindergarten teacher, and the couple had a son together.
