The Lasallian educational institution is an educational institution affiliated with De La Salle Brothers, a Roman Catholic religious order founded by the French Rev. Saint Jean-Baptiste de La Salle, which was canonized in 1900 and proclaimed by the Vatican in 1950 as the patron saint of all teachers. With regard to their educational activities, Brothers since 1680 also called themselves "Christian School Brothers", associated with the Christian Brother School Institute ; they are often referred to by themselves and others in the shorter term " Christian Brothers ", the name is also applied to the Christian Brothers Congregation or the Irish Christian Brothers, as well as providers of education, which usually causes confusion.
De La Salle Brothers said that, with the help of more than 73,000 co-workers, they taught more than 900,000 students in 80 countries. Short prayers are read out at Lasallian educational institutions during the school day:

The US-based La Salle International Foundation, which supports the global education network and other networks of De La Salle Brothers, said on their website that they sponsor educational projects and support schools in 82 countries; and that they pay particular attention to risky youth, including those who are "excluded by education, street children, orphans, child abuse victims, drug addicts, disabled teenagers, individuals with mental illness, migrants and young refugees, children with HIV and AIDS, child victims of war, juvenile crime, child labor, child trafficking victims, ethnic minorities, disadvantaged girls, and poor children ".
Since the 1980s an increasing number of child sexual and sexual abuse cases, covered by authorities, in Catholic Church institutions and others have been reported. Cases of physical and sexual abuse of children in Lasallian educational institutions, and the failure to investigate, report, and further protect children have been investigated and accepted.

There have been numerous cases of sexual and physical abuse of children, many for decades, in Lasallian educational institutions in some countries. Some are explained, by reference, in the article section on De La Salle Brothers. The branches of De La Salle Brothers recognize these cases, and issue apologies openly and to the victims. The investigation of the Institutional Violations of Northern Ireland Institutions in its report on physical and sexual abuse at De La Salle Boys' House in Rubane's House is considered "the extent and frequency of harassment is such a systemic one" and that "the [La Salle] Failure order to properly investigate alleged harassment sexual and report them properly to the relevant authorities and its failure to take appropriate measures to protect children from further sexual harassment "equals" systemic failure to take appropriate measures to ensure criminal investigation and prosecution of violations involving misuse ".
