Blue Drive Strategy is Hyundai's new and upcoming strategy for fuel-efficient vehicles, and includes environmentally friendly vehicle technology. It has started with several Hyundai vehicles such as the i10, a more fuel-efficient version of the Elantra and Accent. Many of these new vehicles will try to beat Toyota and Honda motor companies by surpassing the average US MPG for Honda and Toyota. Hyundai's MPG target fleet is 35mpg by the end of 2015. Hyundai Blue-Will is a concept car introduced in Seoul South Korea as part of the Blue Drive Strategy. Hyundai is testing other possible items to use in their cars such as diesel engines and fuel cells. Hyundai has set up a test car, known as the Tucson Electric Vehicle Vehicle, which is run by a fuel cell.
The Hyundai Blue Drive system will consist of nine major components:
- The 2.4 liter Theta II machine
- The starter generator to stop-start
- 30 kW electric motor delivers 205 Nm of torque
- Redesigned braking system
- 6-speed automatic transmission with new electric oil pump
- 1.4 kWh lithium polymer battery (5.3 Ah, 270 V)
- Hybrid power control unit
- Electric AC Compressor
- Low weight design is added to the low resistance coefficient

Hyundai's latest fuel test type
Hyundai has created vehicles that run on biofuels such as ethanol. The vehicle uses E85, which is 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. They also come with hybrid electric vehicles such as the Hyundai Sonata recently. It is a midsize hybrid sedan that primarily uses a gasoline engine, but also has a polymer lithium-ion battery. This battery is 30 percent lighter than its competitors. Hyundai has also been testing electric fuel cells such as the Hyundai Tucson mythology. Hyundai is partnering with ChevronTexaco Corporation in the design and production of fuel cells for Hyundai. In 2008 Hyundai introduced the i-Blue concept car which is a pure fuel cell vehicle. The i-Blue can go up to 370 miles before requiring more fuel, and can also reach a top speed of 100 miles per hour.
Hyundai has been working to make many new vehicles that will be fuel efficient. Most of them will be tested in Korea, and will not be in America until some time after they are done with vehicle testing.

Hyundai Vehicles
- Tucson ix hydrogen fuel cell vehicle - This vehicle uses polymer lithium-ion batteries and fuel cells to drive the vehicle. Hyundai claims the vehicle can reach a top speed of 130 km/h and can travel about 140 km per charge.
- Sonata Hybrid - This is the first Hyundai hybrid vehicle mass-produced and exported abroad. It has high fuel efficiency, high performance, and has a single hybrid engine.
- Blueon electric vehicles - These come in many designs and models such as i20, i30, and i40. They have a top speed of 160 km/h, and a range of 635 km with a single charge.
As part of their blue drive strategy, Hyundai has designed a bus called Blue-City. The bus is designed and tested in South Korea. It has a natural gas engine, and also has a 3.8kWh lithium-polymer battery.
