The Honda Sports Award for basketball is presented annually to the best female college basketball players, as selected by a panel of more than 1,000 NCAA administrators. This award was first presented after the 1976-77 season. Four nominees are elected annually by a panel of trainers representing the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), and the winner is selected by an administrator vote of each NCAA member institution, with each agency having one vote.

Thirty female college basketball players have received the Honda Sports Award for basketball in the 40 seasons that have been presented. Nine players have won awards many times. Breanna Stewart of Connecticut was the only three-time winner; eight others have won two awards: Nancy Lieberman from Old Dominion, Cheryl Miller of Southern California, Dawn Staley of Virginia, Chamique Holdsclaw of Tennessee, Diana Taurasi of Connecticut, Seimone Augustus of LSU, Candace Parker of Tennessee, and Maya Moore of Connecticut.
