The J-series is the family of Honda's fourth V6 engine, introduced in 1996. The J-series engine was designed in the United States by Honda engineers. It's built in the engine plant of Anna, Ohio, and Lincoln, Alabama at Honda.
This is a 60 Â ° V6 - the existing Honda C-series is a 90 Â ° engine. J Series is designed for transverse installation. Has a shorter spacing (98 mm or 3.86 inches), shorter connecting rods and special crankshaft smaller than C series to reduce its size. All J-series engines are SOHC 4-valve gasoline-powered design with VTEC variable valve timing.
One of the unique features of several models of the J-family engine is the Honda Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) system. This system uses VCM to turn off a bank of cylinders under light load, turning the V6 to straight-3. Some versions are capable of shutting down one cylinder bank or one cylinder at the opposing bank, enabling the use of three cylinders under light load and the use of four cylinders under medium load.

J25A
The J25A is only used in Japanese domestic Inspire/Saber models. The J25A displaces 2,495Ã, L (152Ã, cuÃ, in). The length is 86 mm (3.4 inches) and stroke 71.6 mm (2.82 inches). J25A uses 10.5: 1 compression ratio and is a SOHC VTEC design. The output is 200 hp (149 kW) @ 6200 rpm and 24.5 kg? M (177Ã, lb? Ft) torque @ 4600 rpm. It has a variable intake manifold to optimize torque output at various engine speeds and engine responses.

J30A
The J30A replaces 2,997Ã, cc (2,997Ã, L; 182.9Ã, cuÃ, in) and is a SOHC VTEC design. Its weight is 86 mm (3.4 inches) and the stroke is 86 mm (3.4 inches). Output for light weight  £ 250 (110 kg) J30A1 is 210 hp (160 kW) @ 5500 rpm and 200? Lb? Ft (270Ã, N? M) torque @ 4800 rpm. The J30A4 drives output to 242 hp (180 kW) and 212 lb ft (287 N m) using a three-way VTEC system, a higher compression ratio (10: 1) and a new disposal manifold cast as one piece with a cylinder head. It weighs nearly 20 pounds (9.1 kg) less and one inch shorter than J30A1. This version was on the list of 10 Best Ward Machines for 2003 and 2004. The IMA hybrid version was on the list for 2005. In 2006, Honda created the J30A5 to mark the 30th anniversary of the Accord. It increases output to 244 hp (SAE Net 08/04) and 211Ã, lbÃ,  · ft (SAE Net 08/04) torque. According to Honda, increased horsepower is achieved with increased intake airflow and exhaust system.

The J32A replaces 3.2Ã, L (195Ã, cuÃ, in) and is a SOHC VTEC design. Its depth is 89 mm (3.5 inches) and the stroke is 86 mm (3.4 inches). The output is 225 hp (168 kW) @ 5600 rpm and 217 lb ft (294 N m) @ 4700 rpm for J32A1, with an increase in J32A2 output to 260 hp (194 kW) @ 6200 rpm and 232 lb ft 315Ã, N? M) @ 3500-5500 rpm. The more aggressive Camshaft, the more freely flowing intake/exhaust, and the 2-stage intake manifold resulted in an increase of 33.55 hp (25.02 kW) compared to J32A1. The output of J32A3 in TL 2004/2005 is 270 hp (201 kW). SAE changed the way they tested the hp engine for TL 2006-2008 was 258 hp (192 kW). The J32A3 includes a one-piece exhaust manifold cast with a cylinder head, first introduced in J30A4.
