The eighth generation Honda Accord for the Japanese and European markets is a medium-size car. It went on sale in mid-2008 for the 2009 model year. Japanese-made accords are also sold in Australia and New Zealand as the Euro Accord. It's also available in the US, Canada and Mexico as the second generation Acura TSX. From late 2009, available as Honda Spirior in China. Though not as big as the North American Accord, sold in Japan as Honda Inspire, this generation Accord is not in accordance with Japanese Government regulations on exterior dimensions, and is not classified as a compact sedan in Japan.
Honda revealed some shooting details and a teaser video of the European-spec Accord in January 2008, before debuting at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The new Accord comes in the form of a sedan and wagon, offering a number of engine and transmission options. Available engines are 2-liter and 2.4-liter i-VTEC petrol engines, and 2.2-liter i-DTEC diesel engines. All engines are equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the gasoline engine gets an additional 5-speed automatic transmission. Dimensionally, the Accord has become longer, wider, and lower for a slim, sporty look, along with sharper body lines and slightly redesigned headlamps. Honda has built the Accord on its new ACE body structure, available with a number of new safety features.
In Australia, the Euro variant of this model won the prestigious Wheels Car of the Year award for 2008. It also won the South African CAR for 2009. For March 2012, Wheels Australia magazine compares 11 midsize sedans, and the Euro Accord won the top spot.
This new model competes with the likes of Audi A4, CitroÃÆ' à «n C5, Ford Mondeo, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, Mazda6, Opel/Vauxhall Insignia, Peugeot 508, Renault Lagoon, Skoda Superb, Toyota Avensis, Toyota Camry/Aurion and Volkswagen Passat as well as the top of the Volkswagen Jetta range in several markets.
Production ends in late February 2015 for Australian and New Zealand specification models, but there must be enough cars to last until the end of 2015. Sales end in Europe, Israel and Turkey as well.

Accord Tourer
It is a version with a cart body. This concept vehicle was launched at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Production versions include the 2.4L DOHC i-VTEC engine having 206 PS (152 kW; 203 hp), 5-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifter.
The vehicle went on sale on December 5, 2008 in Japan. The Tourer was also released in the US as Acura TSX Sport Wagon in the fall of 2010 as a 2011 model.

Accord Type S
The new Honda Accord Type S was introduced in Geneva in March 2008.
Type S is available in Saloon and Tourer. Type S has 18 "alloy wheels, front spoiler, and rear diffuser (only Saloon) that distinguishes it from other models.
Type S runs with a reinforced iDTEC 2.2 diesel engine which now has 180 PS (132 kW; 178 hp). This increase in power is due to some modifications to the turbo and valve gaskets. Also, the radiator has grown. In addition to increased power, torque is now up from 350Ã, N? M (258Ã, à £ ft ft) to 380Ã, N? M (280Ã, lb? Ft).

It is a concept car with a four-inch four-channel supercharged K24A, 6 speed manual transmission, 245/35R19 tires. The vehicle was unveiled at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Salon.
