Victory Motorcycles is an American motorcycle manufacturer with its latest assembly facility in Spirit Lake, Dickinson County, northwest of Iowa, USA. It began production of its vehicles in 1998, and began to ease operations in January 2017.
Its parent company, Polaris Industries, created Victory following the modern success of Harley-Davidson. Victory motorcycles are designed to compete directly with Harley-Davidson and similar American-style motorcycles, with V-twin engines and tour configurations, sport-touring, and cruisers. The first victory, V92C, was announced in 1997 and went on sale in 1998. The win was profitable for several years (starting in 2002) but failed to make a profit three out of the last five years.

Polaris, a Medina, Minnesota company with annual sales in 2015 of $ 4.7 billion, is one of the earliest snowmobile manufacturers. Polaris also manufactures ATVs, off-road vehicles side-by-side, electric vehicles and, until 2004, private boats. Seeking to diversify its product line, and observing the sales enjoyed by Harley-Davidson and similar manufacturers, the company decided to produce a large motorcycle built entirely in the United States.
Victory vehicles follow the traditional American style of heavier motorcycles increasingly attributed to the Harley-Davidson brand in economically advanced countries after the Second World War, rather than modern-inspired racing designs.
Polaris started the research and development of motorcycle manufacturing in the early 1990s. They completed extensive research that included testing various brands and models of motorcycles. This study provides them with guidance ranging from comfort to braking ability, which is the framework for designing motorcycles that combine the best of each research criteria. Polaris is on a mission to create an American-made cruiser-style motorcycle. This new creation is named Victory.
Victory model cruiser debut, V92C, has a weighted 92-inch (1,507 cc) motor, injected V-twin fuel. In its debut in 1998, the V92C became the largest displacement engine offered in the cruiser market. The new Victory Motor was unique in its performance. Fender and tank profiles mimic the retro look of the sweeping lines of the 1930s era car.
In 2010, Polaris was involved in the massive expansion of motorcycle production and marketing. In 2011 Polaris bought Indian motorcycle brand.

Model
V92C
The first model, V92C, was brought to Planet Hollywood at Mall of America by Al Unser, Jr. in 1997. Production began on 4 July 1998 for the 1999 model which was the first official model year. At 92Ã, à ° C at (1,510Ã, cc), the V92C was the second largest production motorcycle engine available at the time, and sparked a race among motorcycle manufacturers to build larger and larger engines. All components for the V92C are manufactured in Minnesota and Iowa, with the exception of the Italian Brembo brakes and the UK's electronic fuel injection system. The Victory machine debuted with a five-speed transmission (six later), single overhead cams, dual connecting rods, hydraulic lifts, and fuel injection; most fuel injection components are standard GM parts. The V92C engine is designed to be easily set by the owner.
The 92Ã, à ° C at (1.510Ã, cc) the Victory machine carries 6Ã,î US qt (5,700Ã, ml) of oil on the sash, almost the same as most cars. This is intended to minimize the risk of low oil damage, but also make it dimensionally larger than other motorcycle engines, such as the Harley-Davidson, which carries oil in an external tank. The top speed is about 120 mph (190 km/h) at 5,500 rpm; ECM contains a rev limiter that can be replaced by reprogramming EPROM. The air-cooled Victory machine, and also circulates crankcase oil through a cooler mounted between the front frame downcles. The rear swingarm part can be removed to replace the belt drive or rear wheel.
Motorcycle designers have approached several European manufacturers, notably Cosworth, about designing and producing machines, but ultimately decided to design and build them in Osceola, Wisconsin. Several variations of machine-frame geometry are attempted until the best configuration is found, with the crankshaft geometrically aligned with the axle, a concept that has become a standard practice for the past 100 years. The V92C weighs about the same as the Harley, about 650 pounds (290 kg). The original V92C engine generates about 55 hp (41 kW) on wheels, equivalent to Sportster 1964; with high performance cams and pistons, this can be upgraded to 83 hp (62 kW) and 86 lb ft (117 μm) of torque.
In 2002, the Machine of Independence was introduced. It has the same dimensions as the old engine but higher power output, and with smaller round cylinders and oil coolers it's much more visually appealing. The V92C is known as the Classic Cruiser, and was removed from the model lineup after the 2003 model. There is also a Special Edition version featuring special improvements to the 2000 and 2001 models, and the Deluxe model for several years.
V92SC SportCruiser
Offered in 2000 and 2001, the SportCruiser V92SC offers a higher ground clearance, which can be tuned through a simple 2 position bolt setup on a frame under the seat. It meets a weaker than expected market, and does not sell well.
V92TC Touring Cruiser
Offered from 2002 to 2006, the TC features a longer swingarm, large hard saddlebag, redesigned seats, and sometimes a new Freedom Engine. The relatively high seat height and spacious ergonomics make this bike ideal for larger riders. The freedom engine moved 92 à ° c at (1,510 cc), but significantly outlasted more power and torque than the original machine. The 2002 model and then TC also received a large drill kit (1,600 cc), which increased the torque even further with the addition of an enhanced exhaust. Then the model displays the installed rubber handlebars and the revised suspension settings. The Deluxe version (V92TCD) is also available with additional features that were popular at the time. With the abolition of the Touring Cruiser at the end of the 2006 model year, the last of the original V92 motorcycles has been retired from the lineup.
Vegas
In 2003, Victory introduced Vegas. The Vegas was designed by the designer Michael Song's Victory, and offers a completely new chassis design. Freedom engines are brought forward from TC, but other parts of the bike incorporate new features. The Vegas debuted with a 92-cu in (1.510Ã, cc) engine and a 5-speed transmission, but was upgraded to 100Ã,Ã c at (1.600Ã, cc) engine and 6-speed transmission for the 2006 model year. Low has 1 in (25 mm) lower seats, foot reps reps, and handlebars 2 at (51 mm) farther back than regular Vegas models.

High Ball
First introduced in 2012, reminiscent of bobber. It features apehanger handlebars, wire wheels and black suede & amp; white paint with painted on logo rather than badge. For 2014, two options become available. The previously mentioned paint scheme comes with a Judge cast alloy wheel. And a new paint scheme of black suede with red flame appeared, keeping the wire wheel. Both versions feature the Judge's lights, replacing the previous lights, which many people feel do not fit the bike's style.
Gunner
Introduced in February 2014 as a traditional "bobber" style of bicycle. With more muscle, (106 cubic inches) pounds for the pound "Victory Gunner" leads the competition in the newest Cruiser-style motorcycle ranks on the market.

Ness Signature Series
Motorcycle adjusters Arlen Ness and his son Cory Ness worked with Victory in 2003 to create a limited edition model based in Vegas. The bikes they developed using Ness's large aluminum billet accessories, special paint schemes and their signatures on the side panels. In 2005, they added Kingpin to the lineup. In 2006, Jackpot became the base for the Ness Signature Series. It featured many chrome accessories, custom chairs built by Danny Gray, custom billet aluminum wheels, and Arlen and Cory Ness signatures on the side panel. For 2007, the Signature Ness Series is based on Jackpot. The style displayed sweeps back the cowls with a cargo cover that matches the flame or fluorescent scheme, which makes the rogue old cruiser rider, riding a horse with a "face cruiser" normally found on a Harley rider.
In 2010 Arlen Ness and Cory Ness created two limited edition Triumphs; Arlen Ness Vision and Cory Ness Jackpot. Made as a limited edition, the bike has paint & amp; wheels, Ness chrome, heads of diamond cutting machines, and numbered and signed. In addition to custom work, both bikes have the same specs as their non-limited edition cousins.
Street Vision and Tour Vision
Introduced in February 2007 in addition to the 2008 lineup, Vision is a tour configuration. It comes in two versions, Street, which includes a full fairing and hard saddlebag; and Tour, which also has a hard stem. Vision offers low seating height and a wide range of luxury electronics. In 2010 Victory changed Street version to 8-Ball.

New for model year 2017.
Octane is an entirely new Victory design that is said to be inspired by Project 156 Pikes Peak racer. Octane also shares 35% of its share with Indian Scout. Featuring 1,179 cc (71.9 cuÃ, in) liquid cooled V-twin engine with 104 hp (78 kW) @ 8,000 rpm and 79 Ãμ lb ft (107 N m) @ 6,000 rpm with a claimed dry weight of 548 lb (249Ã, kg) and a 1/4 mile time tested of 12.0 seconds at 109 mph (175 km/h). They are only made with one seat and can also be adjusted with two in one exhaust to provide extra strength for the bike. Spare parts for this bike are available for the next 10 years as recommended by local dealers and Polaris. About 4000 Octane bicycles are manufactured and shipped worldwide.
8-Ball version
There are five bikes coming in 8-Ball versions: Hammer, Vegas, Kingpin, Vision, and Cross Country. 8-Balls come in one color and have a lower retail price tag. Bikes are basically the same as their peers but generally come with fewer add-ons. Example: 8-Ball vision does not come with a passenger's back/luggage. The 8-Ball version of the bike is also lower or has a lower seat.
Marketing contest
In 2010, Victory marketing manager Josh Kurcinka announced a contest in which ten people won the lease on one of two new Victory touring bikes: Cross Country or Cross Roads. The newcomers have sent a 90-second video explaining why they are eligible to rent a new bike and what they plan for the summer. Contestants are asked to describe four different and possible road trips. Victory rate entry based on possible travel, content and originality. Submissions are made online and at Industrial Trade Shows such as New York International Motor Show. Starting May 2010, winning riders begin taking a series of road trips each month until August 2010 each of two to five days. Passengers document their experiences through blogs, videos and photos sharing reviews about bikes and sites they visit along the way.
Owner club
The Victory Motorcycle Club is an independent, not-for-profit group of motorcycle owners and Victory enthusiasts who started in 1998 as an online Yahoo chat site by several owners of Victory Motorcycles. The club has grown from a small group of fans to international clubs with over 2,700 paid members and 11,000 guests in the United States, Canada, Britain and Germany. As of July 2010 there were 107 local branches.
Lower
On January 9, 2017, parent company Polaris Industries issued a press release announcing that it would immediately begin to stop Victory Motorcycles operations because of struggles in building market share and limited profitability. The brand itself will also be stopped. Dealers liquidate supplies, while parts will be available for ten years. The dealer will continue to offer the service and warranty coverage to the owner.
With Victory, Polaris objectively creates high-quality, American-made cruisers, baggers and touring. However, subjectively, Victory can not capture the legacies and emotions that Harley-Davidson enjoys from its owner. Polaris solved this problem by buying and reviving Indian Motorcycle brand in 2011. After it became clear that India could compete with Harley-Davidson better on an emotional level, Polaris decided its production capacity and resources would be better aimed at the Indian brand.
