The Saturn Aura is a mid-sized family sedan manufactured by Saturn. It debuted as a concept car at the North American International Auto Show in January 2005. Aura's production model was shown at the 2006 New York Auto Show in April, with production starting in North America in the summer of 2006 for the 2007 model year. Aura replaces the Saturn L-Series, which was discontinued after the 2005 model year. Although Saturn never intended to use Aura's name for a production vehicle, the name was finally attached as a result of the popularity of the concept.
Aura is considered an important model for Saturn and General Motors. It is part of the product rejuvenation for Saturn that is intended to make the brand profitable as well as compete with European imports. The reaction to the Aura was positive, both in terms of reviews and sales. Saturn Aura is North American Car of the Year 2007.
This concept uses 252Ã, hp (186Ã, kW) 3.6Ã, L V6 and a new six-speed automatic transmission 6T70 . The powertrain is offered in a production model known as XR . Also introduced is 3.5 V6 L with 219 hp (163 kW), down from 224 in 2007 at XE , and a 164 hp (122 kW) 2.4 L inline-4 hybrid, down from 170 hp (127 kW), on the Green Path . Aura, developed on the GM Epsilon platform, is available only as a sedan and built in the Kansas City, Kansas, Fairfax Assembly plant.
The vehicle was discontinued after the 2010 model as a direct result of Saturn's discontinued division for the same year. It was later revealed that a second-generation model based on Vectra's replacement, Insignia, would be released. However, with the discontinuation of Saturn's marx, the Symbol was offered to Buick, who released it as the fifth-generation Buick Regal. Saturn Aura was later replaced by the redesigned Buick Regal 2011 design, and the new redesigned Buick LaCrosse 2010.

Exterior
Aura is a new styling direction for Saturn, with styling resembling its cousin, the European Opel Vectra. All Aura models come standard with side mirrors and side marker lights, lending to the European style. Special Aura cutting designs include integrated radio antennas in the rear window, chrome display packages available on the XR model, standard 17-inch wheels with five-spoke five-spoke and P225/50R17 all-season wheels on the XE model, and standard 18-spoke 18-spoke aluminum wheels on the XR with Goodyear Eagle LS2 P225/50R18 T high performance tires.
Interior
The interior of the Aura also marks the direction of the new interior for Saturn, moving to a more European-style interior. Aura's interior design is different from Ion, which is heavily criticized. In the upscale XR model, the interior comes with options for saddle leather and paddle holder, as well as options for rear seat radio control. Although praised for its design and fit and finish, Aura's interior was criticized for using inexpensive materials.
The standard features of Aura XR include: automatic climate control, long distance vehicle start, Stabilitrak stability control, audio control rear seat, heater seat, six airbags, four wheel ABS disc brakes, steering audio controls, universal home remotes, OnStar, and "Driver" Information Center".

Aura XR
Aura XR is a top-line Aura model. The XR is equipped with 3.6Ã, L DOHC V6 with VVT, rated at 252Ã, hp (188Ã, kW) at 6200 rpm and 251Ã, Â £ lb (ft) of torque at 3100 rpm. This machine was first used in Cadillac CTS as well as Cadillac STS and marked the third usage in a North American GM car. With this 3.6 L engine, the Aura is the first GM front-wheel drive passenger car that uses a six-speed six-horsepower Hydra-Matic 6T70 transmission. This transmission features a TAPshift, which allows the driver to manually select the gear by using a paddle located behind the wheel. Aura XR is a performance-oriented version with a tight suspension, but not rugged, and a more powerful engine. The interior colors available on XR are tan and gray skin (available in XE), along with black XR-specific or Moroccan Chocolate skin. Fabrics are the standard. Other standard features include Advanced Audio Packages, 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome exterior door handles, and ranging long-distance vehicles. Given the European root of the 2007 Aura Saturn - the car chassis is also used for Saab 9-3. Aura also uses hydraulic power steering (V-6 only) which provides more linear feedback and nuance than a fussy electric help unit. For 2009, entry level XR becomes available. It includes 10-inch alloy wheels measuring 17 inches available on the XE and the Ecotec 2.4L LE5 engine mated to a new 6T40 6-speed automatic transmission GM with TAPshift. 3.6L VVT with 18 "wheel is optional.
Aura XE
The basic version is Aura XE. Equipped with 3.5 VVT V6 L L (LZ4), the engine is compatible with 4T45-E 4-speed automatic transmission. At Aura, the engine produces 219Ã, hp (163Ã,kW) and 220Ã,bb ft (300Ã,N? M) of torque. Traction control, six airbags, V6, auto, car headlights, CD with AUX, 17 inch wheels, among other features, become standard. Aura XE has a softer suspension, but it is still handled very well. Special Edition versions of XE include equipment upgrades, options from XR-only black or Moroccan Chocolate, along with new 18-inch XE-only engine wheels. Starting with the 2008 model, the 2.4 L LE5 Ecotec 4-cylinder becomes available with 4T45-E 4-speed automatic. For 2009, the standard 4 cylinder is mated to a new 6T40 GM 6-speed automatic engine with TAPshift as standard equipment. It improves overall performance and improves fuel economy up to 22 miles per gallon of US (11 L/100 km, 26 mpg -imp ) in the city, and 33 miles per gallon US (7.1 L/100 km, 40 mpg -imp ) on the highway, up from 2008 22 miles per US gallon (11 L/100 km; 26 mpg -imp ) city, 30 miles per US Gallon (7.8Ã, L/100Ã, km; 36Ã, mpg -imp ) highway
Aura Green Line
Aura Green Line is a lightweight hybrid, following the Vue Green Line as the second vehicle in the ranks of Saturn which incorporates a GM alternator belt starter system. It rides the XE suspension. It was sold from the end of March 2007 to 2010.
As in Vue, Aura Green Line is equipped with a 2.4L Ecotec engine mated to an electric motor/generator and 4T45-E four-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain is rated at 164Ã, hp (122Ã, kW) and 159Ã, lb? Ft (216Ã, N? M) torque. Electric motors/generators add gasoline engines during launch and under throttle wide open. Aura Green Line has an EPA fuel economy estimate of 26 mpg -us (9.0 L/100 km; 31 mpg -imp ) city and 34 mpg - The highway (for the 2007-08 model year it is 28 mpg -US (8.4 L/100Ã, km; 34 mpg -imp ) city and 36 mpg -US (6.5 L/100 km; 43 mpg /sub>)), which Saturn claims achieved a 30% increase over Aura XE.
Saturn Aura Green Line is eligible for a Federal tax credit of US $ 1300, as well as some state tax credits.

Acceptance to the Aura is generally positive. Aura is described as the best sedan to get out of GM in a long time. Aura is also praised for its performance. Aura has been described as the "best Saturn", and the fit and finish and the quality of the vehicle are considered greatly improved from previous Saturn. Other improvements include road noise reduction, attributed to the fact that this model does not use polymer body panels such as its predecessors, in addition to GM equipped with a wide soundproofer added to the car, and the front window and windshield three panels. Aura also garnered praise for its value, as it was noted that Aura XE was loaded with certain options at a cost less then than the standard MSRP Toyota Camry with V6. Aura ranks fourth from six places in the Car and Driver Comparison Test, ahead of Chrysler Sebring and Toyota Camry, but falls behind the Honda Accord. Even so, this is the best performance of the car compared. Aura also received praise for its interior workmanship and European style. Aura also gets favorable reviews by Consumer Guides, with it being a recommended option. It also got more than good reviews from the actual owners of the vehicle.
Nonetheless, Aura has several critics. Interior Aura has been criticized for using cheap materials. In addition, the steering wheel has been criticized for being too large for some drivers and that the rear headroom is very tight when equipped with an optional sunroof. The aura is also criticized for being noisy over the mound and the absence of armrests and headrests, and the push-button control buttons can not be operated while holding the wheel. Robert Cumberford from Autombile magazine claims that Aura is a good car that is poured down by GM's cost-cutting department.
Awards
Aura won the North American Car Prize of 2007. Therefore, Saturn sent a copy of the award to select customers who bought Aura before it was awarded. Aura also won a 2007 car from Canadian's Motoring Television from this year's award, Driver's Choice drivers for the best new midsize sedan, and World of Wheels ' Editor's Choice for the best family sedan.
