The Civic is based on Honda's new global compact platform.

The production sedan for the North American market is inaugurated on the YouTube Space LA on September 16, 2015. The model includes a choice of two engines: a naturally aspirated I4 2.0 liters engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission or CVT, or 1 , 5 liter direct injection turbocharged I4 engine with CVT only transmission. The 2.0-liter sedan engine paired with the CVT has an estimated EPA fuel economy of 31/40/34 mpg (city/highway/combined).

The Civic concept was unveiled in April at the 2015 New York Auto Show.

Coupon production was launched in 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show in November, sales began in March 2016.

Hatchback

Vehicle Prototype Civic Hatchback launched at 2016 Geneva Motor Show, production version was launched at 2016 Paris Motor Show. Hatchback jointly developed by team Honda R & amp; D in Europe and Japan, and produced in Swindon, England. The US model goes on sale in September 2016 (2017 MY).

Type R

Type R Prototype was launched along with a production hatchback at the Paris Motor Show 2016. The prototype has the same overall body as the regular hatchback but with a performance-focused performance. The Type R prototype includes a unique aluminum effect paint, a 20-inch black piano rim, a carbon fiber front splitter, and a large rear spoiler. In production, the new Honda Civic Type R will use the same 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine as the previous version exclusively with 6-speed manual. Areas

Production of the sedan starts at Honda Canada Manufacturing on October 20, 2015 and shortly thereafter at Honda Manufacturing of Indiana begins on 27 October. Civic Hatchback is manufactured at Honda of the UK Manufacturing (HUM).

The 2.0 liter and 1.5 liter turbo engine used in the North American Civic is manufactured in Anna, Ohio. Automatic vehicle transmissions' (CVTs) are sourced from Honda plants in Russells Point, Ohio and Celaya, Mexico.

The Civic is revived for the Japanese Domestic Market in 2017, after a seven-year absence that completely passes through the ninth generation. The 10th generation Civic generation was unveiled in Japan on July 27, 2017 and sales began there on September 29, 2017.

Thai

Honda Automobile Thailand debuted at Civic on March 12, 2016. Options include E, El, Turbo and Turbo RS, redeveloped 1.8-liter naturally aspired with i-VTEC technology that produces 141 hp (105 kW) and 174 N? M (128 Â £? After the launch of the current generation Civic sedan in Australia, Honda's model sales jumped nearly 50 percent. It has about 23 percent private market share, matching the best seller performance in this segment. Honda does not compete in fleet markets or leases. The biggest sellers are RSs that contribute more than 25 percent of sales, while 60 percent of sales consist of turbocharged models in the line-up. The hatchback was launched in May 2017.

Malaysia

On June 9, 2016, the Civic was launched in Malaysia with only the bodystyle sedan being offered with three variants: 1.8L, 1.5L Turbo and 1.5L Turbo Premium.
