src: i.ytimg.com

The Honda CB400 Super Four is a motorcycle manufactured by Honda at the Kumamoto factory from 1992 to the present. The CB400 embodies the unique Universal Japanese Motorcycles manufactured during the 1970s, updated with modern technology. For this purpose, the bike has a bare retro design, paired with a delicate four-inline engine. Initially Japanese bikes alone, it is also also available in Southeast Asia, and from 2008 in Australia.

Sejarah Model

Inaugurated in 1991 at the 29th Tokyo Motor Show as a 400cc version of the popular CB1000 Super Four, this motorcycle was introduced in Japan for the 1992 model, with engines similar to the original CB-1.

1992-1998

1992 : The CB400 Super Four introduces an updated CB-1 engine, tilted backwards to get a more upright cylinder bank. The carburetor changes from draft down to draft type aside, but still CV. More conventional chain drive systems replace the gear drive system, setting the red line at 12,500 rpm. The wider gear ratio defines the versatility of Honda's intentions for bicycles.

1994 : Update of ignition timing due to adoption of graded combustion chamber design, internal exhaust structure, and cam chain link shape to reduce mechanical noise. Engine install location updated for better handling. A new instrument cluster appears with the analog fuel gauge moving to a central location from before inside the tachometer face, a row of LED indicators below the clock, and a danger light switch. Weight increases 1 kg (2.2 pounds).

1995 : More cooling fins are added to the lower side of the cylinder bank A special edition of the Super Four Version R model offers PGM-IG time ignition programmed in conjunction with electronically controlled valve operation, in addition to headlights, sharper angle rakes, lighter aluminum muffler, stiffer suspension and sintered brake pads..

1996 : New front disc brakes with a downward trend to the warp, and against four-piston calipers to improve initial response.
The special edition version of Super S Four Models is available with Brembo brakes and Showa suspension.

1997 : Updates to the air carburetor funnel, internal exhaust structure, and Nissin brakes. Weight increases 1 kg (2.2 pounds).

1999-2001

1999 : The CB400SF Hyper VTEC introduced major engine improvements through the use of Honda's VTEC system. While having four valves per cylinder, under 6750 rpm one intake and a pair of exhausts are disabled. This technique increases the power and efficiency of low and medium machines, while maintaining a performance of over 6,750 rpm by continuing the operation of four valves. Lightweight aluminum muffler (previous special edition), 40mm shorter wheelbase, engine mounting position 10 mm lower, and front suspension lifted from the super-sport CBR900RR resulting in better handling. Weight is reduced by 6 kg (13 pounds).

2000 : More powerful key combinations to prevent theft.

2002-2003

2002 : The CB400SF Hyper VTEC Spec II changed the operation of the VTEC system to trigger at 6,300 rpm along with an updated time ignition map. An LCD/trip-meter odometer and fuel gauge are integrated in the speedometer and face tachometer respectively, as well as adding a HISS ignition system. Noise of air intake is reduced by increasing the surface stiffness of the air conditioner. Lighter, smaller oil filters and front brake calipers lifted from the super sports CBR900RR. The chipping guard is added to the front fork tube. Weight increases 1 kg (2.2 pounds).

2004-2007

2004 : The CB400SF Hyper VTEC Spec III further alters the operation of the VTEC system to trigger at 6,750 rpm in the 6th gear, remaining at 6,300 rpm on gears 1-5 , along with the ignition timing map updated further. Increasing the quantity of glass wool in the exhaust pipe collector reduces the exhaust noise up to 72 dB to comply with government regulations. The new lower seat with a single handle, not a surface belt, light rear brake calipers, and updated front suspension offer better ergonomics. The multi-reflector headlamps, LED tail lights, new fuel tanks, and back cover provide better security and styling. Weight increases 1 kg (2.2 pounds).

2005 : Adds an analog pre-load adjustment mechanism for front suspension and high density polyurethane material for seat cushioning. Beginning in 2005, the CB400 Super Bol d'Or has been available with half a fairing in Japan and later in Southeast Asia as well.

2006 : The larger ignition coil supplies a more stable spark at low rpm; clear smoke lenses on the turning indicator light.

2008-present

2008 : The CB400SF Hyper VTEC Revo introduces Honda PGM-FI programmed fuel injectors and idle air control valves to improve fuel economy and reliability. Revised engine materials and integrated crankcaps reduce engine weight by 2 kg (4.4 lb). The VTEC operation is further refined in such a way that in operation 1-5 valves four operate at 6,300 rpm for the wide-open throttle, on the contrary at 6,750 rpm, and remaining at 6,750 rpm in the 6th gear. Independent cylinder ignition timelines, revised air input geometries, and larger stainless steel exhausts contribute to fuel efficiency. Renewed frame rigidity and engine mounting position improve handling. The optional combined ABS uses a three piston slide caliper on the front brake instead of a standard caliper that has four pistons and a larger 256 mm rear brake. Weight increases 4 kg (8.8 pounds), and 9 kg (20 pounds) with ABS.

2014 : The central LCD screen with gear position, fuel consumption, thermometer, and heater level for handle handles (available with "Package E"), 10-spoke wheels, round mirrors, and dual grip rails on revising the back cover with LED back lights and clear lenses. The revised frame geometry carries the handlebars 10 mm taller and 7 mm closer to the rider, and also reduces the tail-ending angle, both altering resulting in a more upright riding position. A half-fairing revision with LED lights for Super Bol d'Or. Weight increases 3 kg (6.6 pounds).

Genuine accessories available from Honda include rear-mounted carrier box mounted in dual capture rails, 12V power socket connected to wiring harness, and central booth.

2018 : Honda's 25th anniversary model PROJECT BIG 1 (SuperFour since 1992), smaller 2-chamber exhaust and updated throttle body to comply with emissions regulations, also increased maximum power up to 41 kW (55 hp). LED headlamps, updated front and rear suspension, right angle tire valve rod, and thrust type helmet lock bracket. Super Bol d'Or is only available with ABS. Weight increases 2 kg (4.4 pounds).
