in Courthouse Building

The Decatur County Courthouse in Greensburg is known for a tree growing from the top of the Courthouse Tower, giving the nickname Greensburg, "Tree City".

There are one or more trees that continue to grow since the first tree was seen in the early 1870s. Later, another small tree appeared in the clock tower.

Regional officials initially worried that the trees would cause damage to the roof, and steep towers were employed in the 1880s to remove some of them. Two trees are left, with one growing to a height of nearly 15 feet (4.6 m). At the time of his death, another tree had appeared.
