Angela Jean Ahrendts , DBE (born June 7, 1960) is an American businessman and Senior Vice President of Retail at Apple Inc. He is CEO of Burberry from 2006 to 2014. Ahrendts left Burberry to join Apple in 2014. Ahrendts was ranked 25th in Forbes' list of 2015 from the world's most powerful woman, Britain's 9th strongest woman in BBC 4 Woman's Radio Hour 100 Power List, and 29 on the Fortune list of 2014 of the most influential women in the world in business. He is also a member of the business advisory board of the British Prime Minister until it was dissolved in 2016.

Kehidupan awal

Ahrendts was born and raised in New Palestine, Indiana, the third of six children. His father, Richard Ahrendts, was an entrepreneur, and his mother, Jean, was a housewife.

He attended the New Palestinian High School, where he was a university cheerleader. In 1982, he earned a bachelor's degree in Trade and Marketing from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

Careers

Ahrendts moved to New York City to work in the fashion industry. After a series of positions including merchandising in bra makers, Warnaco, Ahrendts joined Donna Karan International in 1989, working to develop international luxury brands through wholesale and licensing. In 1996 he was hired at Henri Bendel by Leslie Wexner to expand the Bendel store to 50 new markets, but the project was canceled by the board of directors two years later.

In 1998, he joined Fifth & amp; Pacific Company as Vice President of Trading and Design Company. In 2001, he was promoted to Senior Vice President of Corporate Merchandising and Group President, responsible for the merchandising of 20 brands plus groups including Laundry by Shelli Segal, Lucky Brand Dungarees and Liz Claiborne Inc. retail business. In 2002, he was promoted again to serve as Executive Vice President, with full responsibility for the complete line of Liz Claiborne products, services and development across the lines of women and men.

Burberry

Ahrendts joined Burberry in January 2006, and took the CEO position on July 1, 2006 to replace Rose Marie Bravo. Ahrendts reduce the brand prestige decrease by immediately limiting the number of clothing and accessories that carry Burberry's check patterns by up to 10%, minimizing false breakdowns everywhere has led to sales. He also oversaw the repurchase of brand fragrances and licensed beauty products and purchases from Spanish franchises which then resulted in 20% of group revenue to stop unlimited permissions. Ahrendts says he does not imitate his approach after other fashion houses, but sees world-class designs as influences, including Apple Inc. The company's value rose during its tenure from Ã, Â £ 2 billion to more than Ã, Â £ 7 billion. CNN Money reported that during 2012, he was the highest paid CEO in the UK, earning $ 26.3 million.

Apple

On October 15, 2013, it was announced that Ahrendts will leave Burberry in Spring 2014 to join Apple Inc. as a member of his executive team as Senior Vice President of Retail and Online Stores, filling in a vacuum by John Browett in October 2012. On May 1, 2014, Apple's new Retail and Online SVP Angela Ahrendts was placed on Apple's Leadership list, its official entry to the company.

According to Apple 2015 Proxy Statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Ahrendts earned more than $ 70 million in 2014, more than any other executive at Apple, including CEO Tim Cook. In August 2016, he reportedly had about US $ 11 million in Apple stock.

Personal life

Ahrendts meets her husband, Gregg Couch in elementary school. They married at the age of 30s after 17 years long distance relationship. The couple has three children. When Ahrendts worked at Burberry, the family lived in a 12,000 square foot (1,100 square foot) home on an 8 hectare (3.2 hectare) plot west of London. Bringing a Methodist, he is still an active Christian.
