Careers
Appearing in a large number of films since 1980, Baldwin rose to be known as a troubled exile Ricky Linderman at My Bodyguard (1980) and moved to a larger role in D.C. Cab (1983), Full Metal Jacket <1987>, Predator 2 (1990), Deadbolt (1992), Independence Day < (1996), The Patriot (2000), and Serenity (2005) - where he mereprises his role as Jayne Cobb's fee from the television series Firefly.
Other works include Radio Flyer (1992), From Earth to Moon (1998), The X-Files < The Cape , Men in Black: Series , Stargate SG-1 , Angel , NCIS , and remake 2005 The Poseidon Adventure . He also starred in the ABC Day Break as Chad Shelten in 2006.
Baldwin paraded the character of Ricky Linderman in the 2008 movie Drillbit Taylor . He is also known for NBC's Chuck , where he plays John Casey, one of the main characters to run a five-season event.
In season four of Castle, Baldwin reunited with former Firefly castmate Nathan Fillion. She plays Detective Ethan Slaughter in episode 21 called "Headhunter" which aired April 16, 2012. She returns to Castle on season eight, episode six "Cool Boys".
Baldwin won the Syfy Genre Award in 2006 for Best Supporting Actor/Television for his role as Jayne Cobb in the Firefly TV series.
Baldwin acts as Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman at Superman: Doomsday , based on DC Comics' The Death of Superman. He also voiced his character in massively multiplayer online games DC Universe Online .
Baldwin has a role as a voice actor in the Xbox 360 game Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST, the latter placing him in the role of Corporal Taylor "The Netherlands" Miles. Baldwin also appeared as a voice actor in Half Life 2: Episode 2 for various soldiers and resistance citizens. Together with his colleague Chuck, Yvonne Strahovski, he also appeared in Mass Effect 2, playing the role of the leader of the Quantum Kal'Reegar marine army.

Personal life
Baldwin was born in Winnetka, Illinois, and studied at New Trier Township High School East in Winnetka. He has three children with his wife, Ami Julius.
Politically, he has been registered as a Democrat since 1980, but states that he re-examined his views after being given a copy of David Horowitz's book Radical Son. He now considers himself a "small government conservative libertarian", and has contributed to The Huffington Post and Big Hollywood.
He is a staunch supporter of Ride 2 Recovery, an organization riding motorcycles prepared for the rehabilitation of injured veterans. He participated in a motorcycle trip "Do not Mess With Texas Challenge" 2009.
Baldwin is credited for having a hashtag of GamerGate. His role in the GamerGate controversy led to a petition to prevent Baldwin from speaking at the Supanova Pop Culture Expo. Convention management finally decided after much deliberation and in response to a more successful reply petition that Baldwin's views should not affect the appearance of his guests. By the end of 2015, Baldwin supports Ted Cruz for the 2016 US presidential election via Twitter.
Baldwin has nothing to do with "Baldwin's brothers" (Alec, Daniel, William, and Stephen).
