Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (sometimes referred to as Volkswagen of America , abbreviated to VWoA ), is the North American operational headquarters, and a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group of German car companies. VWoA is responsible for five marques: Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, and Volkswagen cars. It also controls VW Credit, Inc. (or VCI), financial services and credit operations of Volkswagen. The company is headquartered in Fairfax County, Virginia, near Herndon.
In Germany, the parent company Volkswagen AG is responsible for eight marques of the group, from six European countries: Volkswagen, Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, SEAT ,? Koda, and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
In March 2008, VWoA has 20 operational facilities, covering coast to coast, and the ultimate goal is to "offer competitive, competitive and environmentally friendly vehicles in an increasingly difficult market and set world standards in each class ".
On July 16, 2008, Volkswagen AG announced plans to build its first production facility in the United States since the closing of the Westmoreland Assembly Plant in 1988. The Chattanooga Volkswagen assembly factory was inaugurated on May 24, 2011, and is currently building the US- Spek Volkswagen Passat and by 2017 started production of Volkswagen Atlas.

Histori
Yayasan
Formed in October 1955 at Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, to standardize dealer services in the United States, it became a 909 Volkswagen dealer in the US in 1965 under the leadership of Dr. Carl Hahn. Below him and his successor as president of Volkswagen of America, J. Stuart Perkins, VW sales in the US grew to 569,696 cars in 1970, the highest peak of all time, when Volkswagen grabbed 7 percent of the US car market and had more than a thousand dealers in America.. Volkswagen Beetle is the best seller company in the United States with a wide margin.
Since then, however, intense competition from American and Japanese automakers led to VW's US sales falling by 87 percent between 1970 and 1992, despite the introduction of a new front-drive model in 1975 to replace the Beetle and its rear engine. , air-cooled stablemates. As a result, the number of dealers in the US also decreased to 630 in the mid-1990s. In 2007, there were 596 Volkswagen dealers operating in the country.
Westmoreland and Auburn Hills
VWoA inaugurated the Volkswagen Westmoreland Assembly Factory near New Stanton, Pennsylvania, in 1978. This was the first modern attempt by foreign automakers to make cars in the US. In 1988, the factory was closed. In the early 1980s, the manufacturing and sales divisions were combined, and Volkswagen of America moved to Troy, Michigan, as a result, settling in Auburn Hills, Michigan, in 1991 ( 42Ã,Ã 38Ã 43.2 < span> ). the uncertainties of the 1990s
Sales of Volkswagen of America hit a low in 1993, with less than 50,000 cars sold that year. Sales began to recover the following year with the introduction of third-generation Golf and Jetta. By the end of the decade, thanks to effective advertising and the launching of more competitive new products, including New Beetle in 1998, the VW brand is back on track. Volkswagen of America went on to sell 355,648 cars in 2001, its best year since 1973.
2000s
In 2000 sales were tapered somewhat due to competition, quality issues and delays in product introduction, and VW US sales for 2005 totaled 224,195 - a reduction of about 37 percent from the previous four years. New models for the 2006 and 2007 models, such as Passat, Rabbit, and GTI, resulted in sales growth of 4.9% for 2006 with sales of 235,140 vehicles. Profitability still remains a problem; Volkswagen of America has not made a profit for its parent company since 2002. In January 2007, Volkswagen of America president Adrian Hallmark publicly stated that he plans to get the subsidiaries back to profitability in two to three years. He hopes to introduce new models for North America, and develop new marketing to cover all brands as well as individual cars. Stefan Jacoby soon replaced him, and Volkswagen of America continued to see new products to add to his lineup.
Meanwhile, the new advertising agency, Crispin Porter Bogusky, helped rejuvenate VW's presence in the US as well. Its ads for the fifth-generation GTI have sparked interest in the brand, not seen since the New Beetle launch, and the ads for the fifth-generation Golf Hatchback/Golf render translates into strong initial sales for the model. Due to the new air pollution regulations issued by the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), the diesel-powered VW with TDI-PD technology can no longer be produced after December 31, 2006. For the 2009 model year, VW introduced a new generation of diesel, based on common rail technology. It will meet air pollution standards in all 50 states. The first of these units was made available for sale in August 2008. VW sold 2050 Jetta Sedan TDI and 361 Jetta Sportwagen TDIs the first month. Volkswagen was later accused of committing three major criminal offenses and fined $ 25 billion for rigging the US government when it was discovered that their vehicles only passed laboratory emissions tests because the company damaged their system's internal software.
In October 2009, the Deutsch Interpublic Group, Los Angeles, advertising agency of the famous advertising man Donny Deutsch, won the American Volkswagen advertising account - fourteen years after Deutsch tried the VW advertising business against Arnold Advertising.
New Headquarters in Virginia
On September 6, 2007, Volkswagen of America announced it would relocate its North American headquarters to Herndon, Virginia. Sales of Volkswagen are very strong in the Mid-Atlantic region, as well as both beaches. Companies point out that it is important for them to search in areas where their customer base is strongest. Currently, the Big Three dominate the US Midwest, especially Metro Detroit where the company used to be.
Volkswagen of America began moving from Auburn Hills to Herndon in April 2008. The company anticipates that 600 of the 1,400 staff will remain in Auburn Hills in call centers and technical service positions, while 400 jobs will be transferred to Virginia. About 150 employees in Michigan are expected to move to Herndon, said Volkswagen of America president and CEO Stefan Jacoby. Four hundred remaining jobs must be cut.
The state of Virginia, among 14 locations considered by Volkswagen of America, offers Volkswagen $ 6 million in incentives to be provided pending Volkswagen's fulfillment of work and other quotas.
New manufacturing plant
On July 15, 2008, after months of long battle between Huntsville, Alabama, a site in Michigan and Chattanooga, Tennessee, the company's supervisory board selected Chattanooga as the location for the new plant. This $ 1 billion investment will generate about 150,000 cars per year with its opening in 2011, playing a major role in the company's strategy to get more than 6% of the car market, or about 800,000 cars over 230,000 produced in America in 2007, by 2018 The plant will also be the headquarters of Volkswagen Group of America manufacturing in the US. The factory was inaugurated on May 24, 2011.
