The Herb Chambers Companies , commonly abbreviated as Herb Chambers, is New England's largest automotive dealer and is the 17th largest dealer group in the world.
Herb Chambers is headquartered in Somerville, Massachusetts and operates 56 retail car dealer locations, representing 36 different brands. Herb Chambers has around 2,400 employees and is ranked one of the "Top Spots to Work" at the Boston Globe for the ninth year in a row in 2017.

History
In 1983, after setting up the world's largest photocopy dealer, A-Copy America, Herb Chambers sold the business to $ 80 million Office Solutions Icon. The icon is now part of the Ricoh copiers manufacturer. In 1984, Chambers sought to purchase a Cadillac for personal use and while passing through the car purchasing process, he became very sick with the experience, he made an offer to buy a dealer at the venue for $ 1.7 million. Currently, more than half of Herb Chambers locations sell luxury brands with higher margins. All dealers are within 75 miles of Boston, the sixth largest metropolitan area in the country.

Herb Chambers currently consists of 56 automotive dealerships throughout Southern New England, primarily in the combined statistical regions of Boston-Worcester-Providence. The company holds franchises for almost all automotive brands including: Alfa Romeo, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Ford, Genesis, Honda, Hyundai, Infiniti, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, Lamborghini, Land Rover , Lexus, Lincoln, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Nissan, Porsche, Ram, Rolls-Royce, Smart, Sprinter, Toyota, and Volvo.
The company is also an exclusive franchisee for MV-1, A2B Electric Bikes and Vespa Motor Scooters for the Greater Boston area.
Sales strategy
The view at Herb Chambers is that the days of harsh sales tactics of new and used cars are over. With the availability of the internet to compare prices, and independent availability, third-party reviews, car buyers are now more responsible for negotiations. Herb Chambers is one of the first dealers in the United States to use a non-bargain pricing strategy called the "Smart Pricing" program. They also own all used cars that undergo a security check before buying and try to ensure there is no pressure from the seller. The dealer also has a refund program in which the buyer can bring the car back for any reason within the first five days and receive a full refund or within 30 days or 1,500 miles (2,400 km) for full credit.

The Herb Chambers Companies have been awarded a number of awards, nominations and special recognitions in the automotive industry. Controversy
In 2005, the Boston Globe report noted that four officials from the Herb Chambers Companies contributed to Massachusetts Attorney General Thomas Reilly's campaign effort when he attempted to run for governor of Massachusetts. During this time, car dealer groups have produced a large number of customer complaints to the Attorney General's office.
