Reception

Regarding their experience of preliminary testing of the development prototype, Trend Motor writes that intermediate power seems somewhat limited as it passes at cruising speed, possibly because Subaru has targeted the best-in-class fuel economy for the upcoming Ascent. They also observed that the trip was muted well and the interior was quiet.

The Trend Motor article follows up stating that the "2.4-liter turbocharged boxer-four proved to be very satisfactory" and that "Ascent provides enough motivation to join the highway or pass another vehicle."

Consumer Reports consider it "the right vehicle for many families in the suburbs".

Preorders exceeded expectations.
