South County Center is a shopping mall located in Mehlville, Missouri. Opened in 1963 with Famous-Barr, who became Macy in 2006, and then JCPenney as an anchor. Stix, Baer & amp; Fuller, (which became Dillard's in 1984), was added in 1973 along with a new store wing. A Sears, food court, and additional mall shops were added in 2001.
In 1990, the mall was purchased by The Westfield Group, which retained ownership until 2007. CBL & amp; Associates Properties, Inc. bought the South County Center and three other Westfield malls as part of their expansion into the St. Louis area. Currently, the mall has four major department stores Sears, Dillard's (originally Stix, Baer, ââ& Fuller), JCPenney and Macy's (formerly Famous-Barr).
On May 31, 2018, it was announced that Sears would be closed as part of a plan to close 72 national stores. The store will close in September 2018.
