src: img.gta5-mods.com

The Honda Integra (sold in some markets as Acura Integra and Rover 416i ) is a car manufactured by Japanese car manufacturer Honda from 1985 to 2006. It succeeds Honda Quint as a slightly larger derivative of the Civic and every generation of Integra comes from the contemporary generation of Civic. Being more luxurious and sport-oriented than Quint, Integra was one of the launch models for Acura in 1986, along with Legend. Throughout his life, Integra is greatly appreciated for his handling and performance.

Integra enters up to five trim levels; RS, LS, GS, GS-R and Type-R, depending on year and market model.

The Integra name was originally used by Honda to refer to the VT250F motorcycle and is currently used to refer to the scooter variant of the NC700 motor series.

Cars and Motorists magazine named Integra to its annual Top Ten list six times: in 1987, 1988, and 1994 to 1997. The GS-R model was specifically called in 1994 and 1995. It makes a return to Top Ten list as Acura RSX, in 2002 and 2003. Integra Type-R (DC2) was named "the best front-wheel drive driver ever" by Evo Magazine in 2006.

The vehicle debuted in Japan in February 1985 as the Honda Quint Integra, only available on Japan Honda dealer sales channels Honda Verno before being sold a year later in North America as part of the new luxury Acura. line up. The three-door hatchback is the only model available, with five doors arriving in October 1985. Bodystyle four-door sedan became available in Japan in the fall of 1986. Only hatchback versions sold in the US A 1.6. L DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine powered most versions. The machine was the most widely publicized feature, as DOHC, an unusual multi-valve engine in the entry-level model at the time. In most European countries, only a five-door liftback is offered, as a replacement for Honda Quint. Typically for the European Integras, only the 85-PS (63-kW) 1.5-liter carburetor engine is available. The five-door liftback model is also sold in Australia which has been named as Rover 416i . Except in the UK, Honda does offer a more powerful 1.6 DOHC fuel injection engine (in the UK known as Integra EX16) in Europe. The ZC engine is also shared with Honda Concerto, which is sold in Japan's newly established dealer sales channel called Honda Clio , which sells luxury-oriented products like the Honda Legend.

In Japan, while the VX- and RX-trimmed four-door (DA2) uses a 1.5L LW5 engine, all other models and trim combinations are offered only DOHC ZC engines, with carburetors on GS, ZS and LS trim packages, and PGM-FI in top level GSi three and five doors, and a three-door trim RSI package. Vehicles mounted with a carburetor yielded 15.4 km/L (44 mpg -imp ; 36 mpg -US ) in Japan Government emissions tests and 115 PS (84.6 kW ; 113.4 Ã, bhp), and 26Ã, km/L (73 mpg -imp ; 61 mpg -US ) at a consistent rate above 60 km/h (37.3 mph). Vehicles with PGM-FI obtained 14.4 km/L (41 mpg -imp ; 34 mpg -US ) in Japan Government emissions test with 135 PS (99.3 kW ; 133,2 Ã, bhp), and 24.5 km/L (69 mpg -imp ; 58 mpg -US ) above 60 km/h (37, 3 mph). In Japan, Integra takes the entry-level marketing position at Honda Verno, under the sporty Prelude and the bigger and lighter Vigor.

Compared to the US, Integra Europe aims to lower the market and generally lacks equipment, with no trim levels (LX or EX) that offer painted bumpers, central locking, power windows or air conditioners, although a small number of complete, left- Fuel-injected Integras is sold in the Netherlands. Integra EX16 does offer a sunroof, painted bumper, rear spoiler and Hi-Fi stereo equipment, but no electric windows, central locks or air conditioning are available. This is considered a loss for European competitors such as the Peugeot 309 1.6 and Renault 11 Turbo injections, all of which can be equipped with comprehensive equipment, although expensive. The first integra never became popular in Europe as it did in the US, but was praised by most motorcycle magazines for styling and overall road performance. This style reflects the popularity of Honda's performance coupe, Honda sporting companion Honda Verno, Honda Prelude, with Integra offering coupes for additional cargo accommodation, and a slightly smaller appearance to the larger Honda Vigor. Most unencumbered by emissions regulations, the UK car market generates 85 PS (63 kW) at 1.5 and 125 PS (92 kW) at 1.6-liter EX16.

Designed as a successor to Honda Quint, Integra is closely related to the Civic, although it features a small list of key improvements over smaller stablemates to help get price increases during CRX Si, which is the most sporty computing vehicle offered by Honda Verno. ; The enlarged 4-wheel disc brakes replaced the small front-disk/drum-back setup used by the Civic and CRX, re-calibration of suspension work, better tires used and 113-hp DOHC fuel-injected 16-valve engines used instead of SOHC units from CRX Si. Just like Prelude and Vigor in that period, Integra features sleek and sporty pop-up lights, like its Japanese Honda Verno stablemates, with CRX adopting a semi-concealed door above the headlamps. Nearly 228,000 units were sold over four years running from the first generation model, most of them in the United States.

The first generation Acura Integras actually came with two different machines. Although they share the same machine code (D16A1), there are some differences. The machines were different from 1986 to 1987 and 1988 to 1989. Both machines are commonly called "Browntop" and "Blacktop" because of the color of their valve cover. The "browntop" came in 1986 and 1987 Integras while the "blacktop" came in the 1988 and 1989 models. Improvements to the "blacktop" engine include lighter rods, domed pistons for slightly higher compression, and electrical distributor ("browntop" comes with a vacuum distributor). The overall increase in performance was about 5Ã, hp (3.7 kW) to 118Ã, hp (88.0 kW).

The 1988 and 1989 Integras also received minor facelift, featuring slightly re-formed indicator lights, improved climate control systems and updates from instrument clocks. In Europe, the disconnected five-door Integra Liftback was replaced by Honda Concerto for the 1990 model.

This is the only generation that offers models 3, 4, and 5 doors. Production of the 5-door hatchback stopped in 1988.

DA5 Series -DA9, DB1-DB2 (1989-1993)

The second generation Integra was introduced in April 1989 and in this generation, one of the first VTEC engines manufactured by Honda was installed in the JDM Integra DA series. For GS-R North America only, the B17A1 engine is a 1.7 liter naturally aspirated engine with a specific power output of 160 PS (118 kW; 158 hp). VTEC involvement at 4800 rpm on B16A engine, redline for XSi is 8200 rpm. All Japanese models remain exclusive to the Japanese Honda dealer network called Honda Verno .

There are two variants of the top DOHC VTEC, RSi, and XSi models. RSi is the basic model with no option, while XSi is a fully selected variant with climate control and an optional sunroof and ABS. The XSi has a 0-100 km time in 7.2 seconds and completes a quarter mile stand in 15.1 seconds. This top spec DOHC VTEC model comes with a more benign model that uses dual-carburetor or PGM-Fi versions of the versatile ZC engine but in a more compact SOHC configuration. Similarly there is a basic and full choice of variants of this SOHC engine, each coded RX/RXi and ZX/ZXi. All vehicles sold in Japan have dimensions of their width are slightly reduced so that in accordance with Japanese government regulations on the exterior dimensions so that the car will be officially recognized as "compact" and not subject to annual tax because it is wider. In October 1991, this range received a mild facelift. At the same time, a four-door hardtop version was made in Japan. Called ESi, it offers 140 PS (103 kW) at 6300 rpm and is available only along with a four-speed automatic transmission. At the same time, VTEC is upgraded and now has 170 PS (125 kW).

This generation saw the halt of a five-door hatchback, and the first availability of a four-door sedan outside of Japan. The new hardtop body style reflects a popular trend in Japan that offers an entry level sedan, like the Integra-based Civic platform, in a reduced four-door hardtop. Integra sedan sees competition from Toyota Corolla Ceres of the same size, Toyota Sprinter Marino, Nissan Presea, and Mazda Lantis. It should be noted that the sedan is just laid out to look like a hardtop. Vehicles maintain the B-pillar, while the doors are built without a window frame. This style is brought to the third generation of sedans, and shares a visual similarity with Honda Verno's larger companion, Honda Vigor.

The current Japanese emperor, Akihito, retains the 1991 Integra gray sedan with a 1.6 liter engine, and regularly drives within the confines of the Imperial Palace.

North American Market

In North America, Integra is sold under the Acura nameplate. Acura offered three trim levels (RS, LS and GS) for the 1990 and 1991 models and added a fourth trim level (GS-R) starting on MY 1992. The model choices consist of a 3-door hatchback and a new 4-door notchback. All trim levels are available with a 5 speed manual transmission or 4 speed automatic except for the GS-R which is only offered in the manual.

GS-R

For the 1992 and 1993 models, Acura offers the GS-R model. The GS-R hatchback only comes with a 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-cylinder 1.7 liter VTEC B17A1 engine with 119Ã, kW (160Ã, hp). The GS-R models come with rear spoiler and 195/60/VR14 tires and alloy wheels. This is the first VTEC car in North America besides Acura NSX.

The GS-R model is rare with less than 5,000 models of the 1992-1993 year Acura Integra GS-R produced for North America, this is confirmed by the car number identification number of these cars. Using this information, the production number from GS-R through vehicle history report is determined. Details of North American production are reported as follows:

Series DB6-DB9, DC1-DC2, DC4 (1994-2001)

Honda debuted a third generation model in 1993 in Japan at the Honda Verno location. Acura was followed in 1994. It has an unusual four-headed front end design nicknamed "bug eye" by some fans. The standard power (in Japan) of the B18B engine increased to 142 hp (105.9 kW). In the US, B18B1 produces slightly lower power due to lower compression ratio (related emissions). The top model is known in Japan as "Si", and it is powered by a B18C engine with 178 PS (131 kW; 176Ã, hp) VTEC power. Bug eye bugs proved unpopular so Integra was revised in 1996 with only a few cosmetic updates including elongated flat light and optional bodykit, the top model is re-tagged Integra SiR.

Dealer-installed options for third-generation Integra include: security systems, alloy wheels, trunk luggage, spark protection, fog lamps, and CD changers.

The USDM trim level is as follows:

RS : Regular Sport, available in coupes and sedans. No sedan was available in 1998. The model went down in 1999. Equipped with a DOHC B18B1 engine that extinguished 140 HP and 127Ã, ft-lbs. torque. In 1997, power ratings dropped to 138HP and 124Ã, ft-lbs. torque due to US emissions regulations. Standard features are cassette player, rear window defroster, and tilt steering wheel. The cassette player was replaced with a CD player in 1997. RS and Type R were not equipped with sunroofs as an option, while the LS, SE, GS, and GS-R sub-models did so.

LS : Luxury Sport, available in coupes and sedans. From RS, LS adds air conditioning, power windows and door locks, cruise control, and moonroof. In 1998, LS became equipped with alloy wheels and in 2000 was given a leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

SE : Special Edition, available in coupes and sedans starting from 1995. SE was only discovered in 1995 and 1996 years until they were changed to be named GS in 1997. From LS, it adds leather seats, all-year alloy wheels, and rear wing spoiler (optional).

GS : Grand Sport, available in coupe and sedan starting 1997. Standard features similar to SE.

GS-R : Grand Sport Racing, available in coupe and sedan. Equipped with B18C1 engine DOHC VTEC output 170HP and 128Ã, ft-lbs. torque. The same standard features as the GS minus the leather upholstery. However, leather upholstery eventually became a standard feature on the GS-R started in 1999. Automatic transmission is found in certain markets for this car.

DC2 type R

In 1995, Honda introduced the Integra Type R to the Japanese domestic market. JDM Type R has a minor headlight long minor change that remains only for JDM models while the world market version has double pre-facelift headlamps.

The DC2 Type R comes standard with 200 PS (images may vary in different countries, 195Ã, hp USDM, 190Ã, hp in Europe) factory-tuned variants of the B18C engine. Equipped with a ratio close to 5-speed manual transmission and Helical LSD, the DC2 Integra Type R significantly improves performance and relative handling of GS-R/Si/SiR-G Integra.

This is the result of extensive changes, including a reinforced chassis with extra point welds and thicker metal around the rear shock tower and lower subframe, weight reduction (reduced sound insulation, 10% thinner windshield, lighter wheels ), more power, rev set set at 8500 RPM USDM (8600 RPM JDM, 8700 RPM UKDM), hand built machine equipped with polished and ported input ports, high compression pistons, undercut valves and revised intake and exhaust systems, and suspension upgrades. The result is a capable sports coupe that is recognized by automotive journalists around the world. Interestingly, there are only 33 lbs net weight differences between the Integra Type R and Integra GS-R, because the extra metal and cross-crossing in Type R virtually eliminate most of the 98 pounds. weight reduction. Although the JDM version is significantly lighter than SiR (JDM ITR 96 - 97 wipe can include: airbag, A/C, back swivel, radio, center console, clock, P/S and ABS). DC2 Type R is the only Type R ever sold in North America (With the Acura badge). For European, Australian and New Zealand markets, DC2 is sold as a Honda.

The DC2 JDM received a significant increase in 1998 and is known as the '98 Spec R. Some major changes are the redesigned rear bumper, 16 inch wheels with 215/45R16 tires, 5-lug nut hubs and larger brake wheels. The gear ratios for the final drive are higher, making the 1st to 3rd gear closer, while the 4th and 5th longer are longer to maintain the spec roaming comfort of Spec 96. The engine strength remains the same, but the use of 4- The new 1 brings lower torque to 6200 rpm.

The final revision of JDM DC2 Type R, known as '00 Spec R includes revised camshaft intake, and a more balanced drive shaft. A final trim version offered in mid-2000 onwards for the JDM market (known as "Type Rx") came factory equipped with motorized mirror, clock dashboard, blue hue carbon interior, and audio system as part of the standard package. it also includes a hash pocket in the center console.

  • Edmund's Insideline tested a 12-year-Type-R share: 0-60 in 6.8 seconds, 1/4 mile in 14.9 seconds @ 95.2.
  • MotorTrend records Type R at: 0-60 in 6.2 seconds, 1/4 mile in 14.8 @ 96.3.
  • Compact Car sports record Type R at: 0-60 in 6.1 seconds, 1/4 mile in 14.5 @ 96 MPH.

All American test cars have optional A/C installed.

An interesting and slightly publicized fact about 1995-2001 DC2 Type R is that Honda loses money on every vehicle sold, although extra dealer markup is sometimes made for excessive dealer profits. Honda manufactures DC2 Type R for homologation purposes to meet FIA certification of motor and chassis changes to make cars more competitive in N-series and World Cup racing. The details required, hand tools in the early versions and finishing the product through the use of various small fabrication shops in Japan were made for increased cost in manufacture that could not be made in the vehicle price list. Honda (and Acura in the US) thought the car was important for marque images and important for the racing program of that era, and the parent company then received a financial net loss on every vehicle sold.

It has been recognized by automotive journalists around the world, including Evo (magazine), named Type R 'the largest front wheel drive performance ever.' and TheAutoChannel.com which also named it 'the best front-wheel drive ever.'

Integra Drive Four Wheels (DB9)

The third generation also saw the production of the four-wheel drive option. Available only in four-door sedans, ZXi4WD (93-95) and Xi4WD (95-00) have a ZC 1.6L SOHC engine incorporated into Real Time 4WD Honda version. []

Integra SJ (EK3)

The Japanese: Integra SJ (short for "Joyful Sedan") is a retrieved Civic Ferio, (Honda Primo product >) with headlights and a modified grille similar to the Orthia and slightly larger rear lights that are also used on the Japanese Civic LEV sedan market. Integra SJ is sold in Japan at Honda Verno dealers. It comes from Honda Domani, another derivative of this vehicle is sold in Honda Clio location. It was made from 1996 to 2001, and used the 1493cc D15B engine. Honda's press materials at the time indicated that SJ was meant to provide a "formal saloon" for the Integra range; another possible reason is to sell Ferios using a more sporty model name at Honda dealerships in Tokyo, as is the case with Nissan Laurel Spirit. In Thailand, Integra SJ is sold as Isuzu Vertex, the last passenger car ever to market it. (This follows Isuzu's practice of selling Honda models like Isuzus which started with Gemini, with Honda also selling Isuzu sports cars in Japan and the United States, and pickup trucks in Thailand.)

Series DC5 (2002-2006)

The fourth generation Integra was introduced in Japan on 13 April 2001 and produced from July 2001 to July 2006. For North America (United States and Canada), it was introduced as Acura RSX according to the new Acura naming alphabet naming scheme. It also has an entirely new engine, K-series. Integra comes in two models in the United States, the RSX and RSX Type-S boasted the K20A2 engine from 2002 to 2004, while the 2005 and 2006 RSX-S came with K20Z1. RSX is sold as a Honda Integra in Japan and Australia, a market where Acura does not exist.

In March 2006, Honda announced that Integra would be discontinued in June after its last 300 cars were sold, due to the depreciation of the coupe market. The consumer's reaction to termination, however, forced Honda to extend production until July 2006 and resulted in more than 150 Integras. Acura RSX is not continued as well, as RSX does not fit within the limits of Acura's reorganization market strategy. This leaves the Acura TSX as an entry-level Acura vehicle. Also, the introduction of a robust and less expensive 2006 model Honda Civic Si is there to fill the gap left by RSX.

The DC5 Type R (Japanese market only) comes with K20A 220Ã engine, hp (164Ã, kW) 2.0 L DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder. The "i" in i-VTEC stands for smart VTEC, which employs VTC (Variable Timing Control) to advance or slow down the cam time intake in the 50 degree range. The Integra Type R is equipped with Recaro seats, four-piston Brembo front brakes, six-speed manual transmission ratios, limited slip differentials, variable reverse drain disposal systems, and more rigid suspension.
