The Honda CBX is a sport bike manufactured by Honda from 1978 to 1982. With a 1047cc six-cylinder inline engine that produces 105 bhp (78 kW), it is the flagship of the Honda lineup. CBX was well received by the press, but was defeated by his sibling, Honda CB900F.
As a promotional exercise, CBX bikes were driven by marshals in 1979 & amp; 1980 Isle of Man TT.

Machine characteristics
Honda had produced a six-cylinder Honda RC series of wheels in the mid-1960s, but CBX was the first production of the first six-cylinder Honda bike with this GP racing engine technology. The sophisticated CBX DOHC 24-valve inline six-cylinder engine is an outstanding feature; but in other cases the motor is conventional, has a telescopic fork, tubular frame, twin rear shocks, and straight handlebars.
Although large, only two inches wider than the CB75CB, the engine just widened at the top. The width of the crankshaft is relatively narrow because the CBX has an array of stacked accessory machines, where the alternator and ignition lock are positioned behind the cylinder block. This arrangement produces a low acceptable machine width and removes important items out of danger in the event of earthing.
Journalist LJK Setright writes about the width of CBX: "Do not tell me the engine is too wide: No wider than the rider's legs, so do not add anything to the front area, and personally I prefer my legs protected by each cylinder from being hit by every blow... "
Sport tour models
In 1981, Honda repositioned the CBX into the sport touring category with the CBX-B, detuning the engine to 100-103 hp (75-77 kW) and added a Pro-Link monoshock rear suspension, 39-mm adjustable air fork , fairing and pannier with a stronger frame to support this addition. The CBX is provided with a double ventilated front disc brake to help stop the weight of the motor up. Model CBX-C model 1982 slightly different from the 1981 model, only has a few changes to the paint and trim.

Reception
In the February 1978 edition, Cyclists editor Cook Neilson wrote this review of a pre-production bike, after a four-day review of the Orange County Raceway, the Willow Springs Raceway, and the Webco dynamometer: "The goal - to build the fastest production bike for sale where "CBX feels better and better, and the difference is greater than the price difference, so a more expensive bike is actually a better deal.... CBX engine responsive like a racer, the best cycle motor ever reaching the street. ".
The CBX is not the first production bike to be powered by a six-cylinder engine (the first being the Benelli 750 Sei in 1972-1978, based on the Honda CB500 Four) but it is the newest and most advanced entry into the competitive superbike market.. A review in the Cycle magazine called CBX a "breakthrough for the Japanese motorcycle industry" and praised its design, concept and performance. CBX was available in the market in late 1978, and its production model was even faster than the prototype. The Bicycle World got 1/4 mile 11.64 seconds at 117.95 mph (189.82 km/h), the 1978 bike was also the first bike they tested for more than 130 mph (210 km/h). CBX 1979 can cover a quarter mile in 11.36 seconds with terminal speed of 189.82 km/h (117.95 mph). But then the CBX with the addition of saddle and detuned fairing bags, and shows the 1981 CBX has lost five hp compared to the 1978 model, from 105 hp to 100 hp.
The Cycle Guide praises the bike as "The Black Shadow Vincent 1979" after its introduction. In 2011, the Australian publication 2 Wheels Magazine named CBX as one of their 12 favorite superbikes.
Untuk menghindari kebingungan dengan sepeda Honda CBX series, CBX kadang-kadang disebut sebagai CBX1000 .
