Plot

The movie opened with a corpse in a strange looking room. We then met Agnes White was a waitress at a gay bar who lives in a run-down motel in rural Oklahoma. Unable to continue from his son's disappearance a few years earlier, he was involved in a drug and alcohol party with his lesbian friend R.C. Lately, she has been harassed by a clandestine phone call she believes was made by her abusive ex-husband, Jerry Goss, who was recently released from prison.

One night, R.C. introduced Agnes to Peter Evans, a drifter who said he was a soldier who had just run out. Agnes and Peter reach out to each other out of loneliness, and start a relationship after Jerry visits Agnes. He assures him that he is the subject of biological testing by the US government when he is in the army, and says the anonymous phone call he has received is made by the government agency in anticipation of his arrival. After they had sex, Peter told Agnes that their room had been filled with insects sent there by the government as part of their experiment.

Peter's movements and behaviors become more uncertain when he fights against bugs, invisible to the audience, which he claims is infecting his body. Agnes soon joined in this behavior. R.C tried to convince Agnes to leave Peter, and mentioned that a man named Dr. Sweet was looking for her, but was sent away by Agnes after Peter had an episode. Over time, they isolate themselves from the outside world, seal themselves in their rooms and cover it with flying paper and aluminum foil and illuminate with the light of the bug zappers. Peter, believes that microscopic insect colonies were implanted in one of his teeth, tearing from his head. Using a child's microscope, he said he saw insects in the remnants of broken teeth, just like Agnes.

Dr. Sweet arrives, and tells Agnes that Peter has escaped while being treated in a mental institution and that delusions about insects are a known symptom of Peter's mental illness. Peter kills Sweet, telling Agnes that he's a robot sent by the government. Together, Peter and Agnes outlined Peter's confidence in the conspiracy, including that Agnes's son was kidnapped by the government to lead him and Peter to meet and that each of them was infected with a bug intended to mate with each other and take over. World. To prevent it, Agnes and Peter drank gasoline and burned themselves.

In the end credits, the audience saw the toys in Agnes and Peter's room completely intact, with no signs of aluminum foil, and opened a film shot with Dr. Sweet, in a closed room with foil but not damaged by fire.. The shoot, if any, shows "reality" is not clear.

Production

Settings

The designs were set by Franco-Giacomo Carbone, film production designers such as Hostel (2005) and Rocky Balboa (2006).

Much of this movie action takes place in a rundown motel room. This scenario has three interconnected rooms - bathroom, kitchen and living room. At one point in the film, the room had several dozen flying strips hanging from the ceiling. At another point the whole room was covered from floor to ceiling on tinfoil. Friedkin says tin foil is a nightmare to overcome, because it has to be fixed constantly, and therefore reflects everyone there, including the crew.

Location filming

The motel exterior was filmed near Olancha, California, and at Grace King High School while the motel room studio interiors were filmed on the sound stage (high school gymnasium) in Metairie, Louisiana, near New Orleans. A grocery store scene was shot at Migliore's Grocery, and a lesbian bar scene was shot in Boomerang's Bar, both located in New Sarpy, Louisiana. The film took 21 days to shoot.

This story is supposed to happen in Oklahoma, however, the Sierra Nevada mountains behind the motel belie the arrangements.

Genre

Friedkin once said that the film would be marked in the 1960s or 1970s, as a horror movie, but he insisted it was not something like that. He told ComingSoon.net that "There are all sorts of people who see Bugs, (including those magazines like Fangoria, and they call it a horror movie," he said. Horror connections "come from many sources." Friedkin claimed that Bug was "in many ways, a black comedy love story," in an interview that "This is not a genre movie, but marketing works in a mysterious way. They have to find a genre for it. 'This is a comedy. This is melodrama. This is a love story. It's a horror movie. This is an adventure movie. ' Bug does not easily fit into one of those categories. "

Home media
